Instructional Aide (7.5 hours per day/10 months)

The Opportunity:
The instructional aide will work closely with the classroom teachers to provide a nurturing environment that respects and honors the individual needs of all children while also challenging them to meet high conjunction with the classroom teacher and/or the administration the instructional aide will be expected to plan for and teach small and large groups; assist in developing units of study with the assistance of the teacher keep track of student progress through assessment and record-keeping systems; and along with the classroom teacher occasionally participate in caregiver conferences. Other duties include conducting arrival lunch and recess activities; accompanying children on field trips; duplicating materials; operating audio-visual equipment; assisting in specials; managing the whole class when the teacher attends meetings; and performing other tasks requested by the teacher and administration. Toileting of students is a duty that an individual may be expected and required to perform as a paraprofessional employed by the Cambridge Public Schools.
