The Safety/EHS Advisor will be responsible to actively promote a healthy safe and environmentally sound culture to all levels of employees with the policies and procedures of Aecons Health Safety and Environmental position is based in Washington D.C and some travel will be required.
What Youll Do Here:
- Drive an inclusive culture to promote equity welcome different perspectives and enable career progression by fostering a sense of belonging.
- Conduct Employee health and safety orientations and site-specific safety orientations to workers owners and clients.
- Train employees in safety related activities rules guidelines and policies to include: fall protection confined space entry traffic protection traffic control methods GHS system SDS requirements respiratory protection emergency response etc.
- Coordinate training such as First Aid/CPR etc.
- Conduct workplace inspections and audits.
- Conduct behaviour-based observations in the workplace.
- Develop workplace safety plans such as emergency evacuations fire emergency traffic controls fall protection plans etc.
- Distribute safety material supplies and equipment as needed to team members.
- Conduct safety presentations to clientsand promote Aecon safety systems to potential industry clients.
- Participate as amember of Joint Health and Safety Committees.
- Conduct studies and analyze accident trends.
- Inspect project facilities and recommend corrective actions&coordination of environmental issues.
- Work with the Claims Administratorassist with workers compensation claims and associated activities.
- Develop return to work and modified work programs.
- Gather information regarding incidents; write and compile incident reports
- Report to incidents to EHS Manager and Aecon Corporate through proper channels
- Conduct Accident/Incident investigations.
- Mediate health and safety issues for resolution.
- Prepare and assist with external safety audits.
What You Bring to the Team:
- A minimum of 7 years experience as an EHS Advisor Field Safety Representative or Safety Coordinator preferably in support of construction work activities
- 3 years of experience in a utility construction (oil & gas pipeline preferred) health and safety role
- Health and Safety Certification required; Construction Utility Safety Professional (CUSP) preferred
