The Culinary Institute of Charleston is seeking a Culinary Department Head. This position will report directly to the Dean. The primary responsibilities of the department head include teaching courses by providing systematically planned and delivered instruction designing and developing curriculum evaluating personnel and student performance and advising students.
This position requires a bachelors degree in culinary arts or related area or an associate degree in culinary arts or related area and a minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible related work teaching experience.
Preferred candidate will have a masters degree and ten (10) years of experience in the culinary industry including five (5) years of training employees and/or students in the culinary arts. Ideal candidates will possess extensive culinary experience with industry certifications as a valuable addition. A strong background in management and formal culinary education is essential for this exciting role. Engaging actively with both the industry and the community is vital to our mission. Ideal candidates will have a proven track record in curriculum development showcasing their ability to create innovate and oversee comprehensive course curricula and syllabi. We are seeking individuals who are not only highly organized and detail-oriented but also driven to achieve significant goals. Flexibility is key as candidates must be prepared to work varied schedules including evenings and weekends.
