JOB BAND: C
CONTRACT TYPE: 12 month attachment/FTC Full-time
DEPARTMENT: BBC Nations
LOCATION: London - Hybrid

PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: Up to 35000 depending on relevant skills knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

This role is advertised as part of our BBC Extend programme for disabled people. To apply for this role you should identify as deaf disabled or neurodivergent and must meet either the definition of disability in the Equality Act (2010) or the definition of disability in the Disability Discrimination Act (1995) if applying in Northern Ireland. This an opportunity to work in a friendly but busy newsroom working on stories about one of the worlds great cities with its many and diverse communities. The successful Journalist will have the opportunity to work on original and diary stories producing - with training and expert help - lively multi-platform content that often appears on the front page of the BBC News website and is read by millions of people every week.

As BBC London Online Journalist you will be joining an award-winning newsroom where you will work alongside TV radio and Social teams to create high quality multi-media content about the capital city for local and national indexes. YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE KEY CRITERIA

Essential

Substantial experience as a journalist in a daily newsroom environment
Excellent news writing skills and an understanding of the power and limitations of an online medium
A solid working knowledge of media law
Demonstratable ability to consistently generate original ideas and turn them into engaging multimedia material
An understanding of using social media as a newsgathering and promotional tool
