About the role

Were seeking a confident and clear communicator with deep expertise in the WA energy network and power system dynamics to join our WA Operations team. As a Principal Engineer youll play a pivotal role in ensuring the security reliability and resilience of the South-West Interconnected System (SWIS) through advanced modelling and analysis.

What you will be doing

  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the SWIS including transmission system limitations and operational challenges.
  • Lead the development and optimisation of Constraint Equations to manage network congestion across operational and planning horizons.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure secure and reliable system operation.
  • Provide expert insights and responses to technical queries from stakeholders such as TNSPs and government bodies.
  • Produce high-quality technical reports and data analyses aligned with market rules and operational needs.
  • Represent AEMOs interests in forums and discussions showcasing our values and strategic direction.

What you will bring to the role

  • Strong knowledge of WAs power system operations dynamics and regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven experience in power system modelling tools (e.g. DIgSILENT PowerFactory PSCAD) and programming (Python).
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and confidently to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience in resolving technical issues across stakeholders with competing priorities.
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Qualifications in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
