Job Summary/Purpose
This position acts as a subject matter expert in a program or system role in a technical discipline among peers within a department. This position works in conjunction with other engineering disciplines as well as craft employees and is responsible for developing design / construction standards.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
Plan and conduct independent engineering work requiring judgment in the evaluation selection application and adaptation of engineering techniques procedures and criteria. Devises new approaches to solving problem. Work within a team environment to create and maintain material specifications material standards and process in Utility Distribution. Current opening is in the area associated with transformers distributed energy resources engineering support and construction issues. Future duties may be in other portions of the Design Basis group related to such items as underground construction equipment controls communications and controls. Persons in these roles are expected to:
Represent Entergy as a technical expert within Industry
Represents Entergy Power Delivery in Standards discussions and/or utility practices as the industry evolves.
Work with consultants and equipment manufacturers and interface with departments on technical issues.
Leads the development of System/ Power Delivery processes and procedures.
Change agent for achieving Power Delivery objectives.
Provide guidance and coaching to other departments on engineering and construction matters.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum education required of the position
Technical Degree (2-year Associate or 4 year Bachelors) and/or years of operational experience in electric utilities commensurate with progression level (15 years for Dist Spec)
Minimum experience required of the position
6 years with 4-year Bachelors degree 8 years with 2-year associate degree 10 years with supervisory experience 15 years without degree.
Preferred: Knowledge of overhead and underground electric distribution systems; hands-on experience in line construction or distribution design.
Minimum knowledge skills and abilities required of the position
Ability to work independently without day-to-day oversight ability to work within a team environment that may be geographically
diverse and to lead small projects critical thinking and the ability to provide written reports supporting standards and the underlying philosophy. Good interpersonal skills along with strong written and oral communication skills. Good knowledge of Personal Computer operations and related software. Basic theory of electricity. Ability to interpret construction drawings. Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities. Ability to recognize opportunities for process improvement. Have experience and expertise in the actual construction of line and component details constructability of standards.
Desired:
Any certificates licenses etc. required of the position.
Must have valid drivers license.
