How to Apply: Overview
InstructionalLeads in the Acero Schools Network serve as key members of the StudentAchievement Team. They will work towards the improvement of academic programsby identifying and developing high quality resources. Specialists will buildcapacity in schools through professional development coaching and facilitationof PLCs. Specialists will partner with high performing schools to planimplement and evaluate pilot programs towards new and innovative analysis of network wide data resources and guidelines will informprogram design and resource allocation relative to the specialists area offocus. As a member of the Student Achievement Team Instructional Leads aretasked with collaborative planning with leadership towards superior academicperformance for all schools. TheHumanities Instructional Lead will ensure that Acero Schools providescutting-edge integration of ELA and Social Science instruction leading tostudent mastery.
Core Responsibilities
Instructional Support
- Identifycross-cutting instructional strategies that support student learning inlanguage arts and social science contexts and aligned curricular resources
- DevelopPD and related resources to strengthen implementation of strong practices
- Collaboratewith network and school leaders to customize and contextualize solutions
- Engageteachers on a group and individual basis to build connection and capacity
- Gatherqualitative data on teacher and student experiences relating to abovestrategies to highlight successes and continually improve practices
Innovation
- Identifypotential levers for improvement in the academic program particularly relevantto high performing teachers and students
- Vetpartners and resources towards a well-informed program design
- Collaboratewith school leaders and teachers to develop plans for implementation ongoingsupport and evaluation
Analysis
- Analyzemultiple data sets (NWEA PARCC Interim Assessments) to identify areas forimprovement in the networks academic program
- Developperformance assessment program aligned to IL State Social Studies &Language Arts Standards
- Reviewcurriculum maps instructional planning resources and guidelines to guide thedevelopment of the academic program towards more purposeful alignment and buildcross-curricular connections
Qualifications
- Strong content knowledge inliteracy social studies arts and humanities
- Extensive knowledge oflanguage arts and social studies standards and curriculum
- Deep knowledge of inquirydriven instruction
- Deep knowledge ofwriting-focused constructivist pedagogy
- Facility in guiding culturallyrelevant teaching practice
- Facility with cross-curricularstrategies and instructional planning
- Ability to communicateeffectively with students school personnel and parents; and an ability towork cooperatively with others
- Facility designing andimplementing professional development with adult learners resulting in improvedstudent outcomes
- Skill in program designimplementation data analysis and evaluation
Education:
- Bachelors Degree (required)
- Masters Degree in Lit. Ed. Social SciencesHumanities Education Curriculum & Instruction or related field as wellas IL Literacy Endorsement (strongly preferred).
Experience:
- Threeto five years of teaching experience in Language Arts Social Studies orHumanities (required)
- Oneto two years of Instructional coaching or administration experience (preferred)
- Demonstratedexperience in design preparation and presentation of professional development (preferred)
Certification
- Musthold permanent residency in the United States (required)
Physical Demands
Nature of work requires an ability to operatestandard business office ability to communicateand exchange information collect compile and prepare work documents set-upand maintain work demands require the ability tostand bend reach high and low stoop and walk around the classroom 60% ofthe addition walking up and down stairs several times be able to lift 15 to 20 pounds for short periods of timeand push and pull 15 to 20 lbs.
Working Conditions
Majority of work performed ina general office requires availability forextended hours plus non-traditional hours required to perform job participation and attendance at organization-sponsored events andmeetings.
