Job Description

Job Title: Quality Engineer
Classification: Exempt
Department: Quality Assurance
Reports to: Quality Assurance Manager
Shift: Monday- Friday

Purpose:
Responsible for monitoring product quality throughout all stages of the production process. Works will all departments to ensure customer satisfaction. Follow accepted policies and procedures to ensure a robust Quality Management System is maintained.

General Duties:
  • Requires substantial physical activity throughout shift (except breaks and lunch) such as walking sitting standing bending stooping squatting reaching handling near/far vision pushing pulling carrying and lifting objects weighing 50 lbs.
  • Responsible for creating PPAP submissions control plans inspection standards APQP documentation FMEA process flow and additional quality related documentation
  • Works directly with other departments to determine process and equipment parameters
  • Conducts analysis using engineering and statistical methodologies in the development of new revised and refined process enhancements; renders technical expertise and assistance to operators; develops sound operating practices and procedures for assigned area
  • Ensures that customers quality requirements are met and monitored on a regular basis
  • Supports corrective and preventative actions for internal and external quality issues
  • Contributes to the continuous improvement process of the QMS
  • Conducts internal and external quality audits as needed on-site and at off-site locations
  • Performs other duties as required
  • Requires wearing personal protective equipment (PPE)

Skills:
  • Ability to read a detailed drawing GD&T experience a plus
  • Must be proficient in basic computer programs (Windows Outlook Excel Word)
  • Must understand basic Problem solving methods
  • Working knowledge of APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) and Part Submission Warrants
  • Observes OSHA EPA and Company rules and regulations concerning safety
  • Good communication skills with at all levels of the company
  • Ability to multi-task under tight timelines
  • Able to travel off site to assist at customer locations as needed
  • Requires working in temperature extremes
  • Assists in Kaizen implementation and 5S

Requirements:
  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering and/or five years of experience preferred in the automotive industry (preferable in aluminum forging and casting). Experience will be considered in lieu of degree. ASQ certification a plus.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis precision measurement process validation supplier quality product testing training and development process capability studies good verbal and written skills.
