Job Description:
The Aerojet Rocketdyne segment of L3Harris isseeking an experienced Automation Engineer to work at our Missile Solutions sector facility for fabrication and assembly of rocket motor components and assemblies in Huntsville AL. The position will report to Advanced Operations Technology (AOT) organization. The selected candidate will work with the manufacturing and facility teams to develop mature and transition automation solutions to improve manufacturing capability effectiveness and employee safety. The automation engineer will support manufacturing modernization initiatives within the scope of automation Industrial Internet of Things (IIOT) and I4.0. The AOT team works with stakeholders to identify opportunities in the manufacturing process draft technical requirements and craft solutions which align with the organizations vision for manufacturing modernization. This requires motivated self-starting individuals with a passion for technical creativity and the ability to work with others to achieve results. Furthermore Automation Engineers will lead the automation solutions through project management activities developing requirements working with key suppliers testing the automation and transitioning the solution to the production team.
Essential Functions:
This position will specialize in developing automation solutions for the Aerojet Rocketdyne segment.
Automation Systems Engineering lifecycle which includes developing requirements creating conceptual solutions preparing plans managing suppliers testing systems and handing off the system to the end user.
Support the Development and implementation of the vision for the automation systems engineering team creating standards to drive commonality easier transitions to production and system support.
Troubleshoot existing systems to resolve issues and focusing on continuous improvement.
Identify modernization opportunities leveraging continuous improvement tools and documenting business case for implementation.
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree and minimum 6 years of prior manufacturing experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4years of prior manufacturing lieu of a degree minimum of 10 years of prior manufacturing experience.
2 years experience with automation systems design/sustainment involving robotic cells custom automation solutions vision systems motion control or testing solutions.
2 years experience with programming control systems: PLC HMIs VFDs etc.
2 years experience developing statements or work and functional requirements specification documents.
2 years experience integrating automation systems to business and manufacturing systems.
2 years experience reading electrical design schematics.
Preferred Additional Skills:
Experience in project management.
Experience managing 3rd party automation integrators.
Experience programming Fanuc robotics systems and simulations.
Experience with parametric modeling solutions.
