Job Overview/Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and organized Senior Radiology Assistant to support clinical and administrative functions within the radiology department. This role is essential in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations excellent patient care and efficient use of radiology resources.
Responsibilities:
Administrative Duties:
Register patients and update patient records in the Radiology Information System (RIS).
Book appointments extract work lists and manage all associated RIS activities.
Maintain accurate and complete records at all times.
Understand and implement contingency plans during electronic system failures.
Coordinate with other departments and external facilities to ensure a quality service.
Monitor and manage stock levels for medical equipment consumables linen and pharmacy items.
Handle telephone messages promptly and professionally.
Report incidents in accordance with Trust and radiology risk management protocols.
Equipment Duties:
Operate specialized radiology equipment after appropriate training.
Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Maintain equipment cleanliness and assist in infection prevention.
Prepare trolleys and assist in interventional/biopsy procedures using aseptic techniques.
Dispose of clinical waste and linen in accordance with safety standards.
Conduct basic fault finding reporting and documentation.
Other Duties:
Support the broader objectives of the radiology department.
Participate in department planning and suggest improvements in procedures.
Help train junior or new staff members.
Collaborate with qualified staff to evaluate resources and uphold patient care standards.
Take part in performance reviews and continuous improvement activities.
Conduct hand hygiene audits.
Primary Skills:
Experience with Radiology Information Systems (RIS)
Strong organizational and communication skills
Proficient in maintaining clinical records
Knowledge of aseptic techniques and infection control
Ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team
Secondary Skills (Good to Have):
Familiarity with PACS and other imaging systems
Previous experience in stock control and ordering
Basic troubleshooting skills with clinical equipment
Experience in healthcare audits or quality initiatives
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (required)
Certification or formal training in radiology/medical assistance (preferred)
Prior experience in a radiology or medical imaging department
