We are looking for a seasoned Senior IT Project Manager (Contractor) to join our Clients Enterprise Technology Finance team on a 6 month W2 contract (no benefits) with the potential for extension. This role is onsite in Newport Beach CA and will focus on the delivery of small to medium-sized Finance IT initiatives while ensuring operational stability. The successful candidate will work closely with Finance Enterprise Technology and external service providers to implement solutions that drive operational efficiency improve service delivery across geographies and enable data-driven financial decision-making. This position plays a critical role in supporting the execution of the Clients Finance Technology roadmap.
Key Responsibilities1. Project Leadership & Execution
Lead Business-as-Usual (BAU) efforts and small to medium Finance IT projects from initiation through deployment.
Coordinate efforts across cross-functional teams and third-party vendors to ensure smooth execution.
Oversee timely resolution of production issues and urgent business requests with minimal disruption.
Manage all phases of project delivery including end-to-end testing cutover planning and production deployment.
2. Project Delivery & Governance
Create and manage core project management deliverables such as work breakdown structures (WBS) sprint plans and status updates.
Develop detailed project workplans with clear timelines and dependencies.
Ensure adherence to project management best practices and high-quality delivery standards.
3. Risk & Issue Management
Proactively identify assess and mitigate project risks and issues.
Deliver scalable sustainable solutions aligned with business objectives and deadlines.
4. Stakeholder & Vendor Engagement
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal business partners and third-party vendors.
Facilitate alignment between IT and business stakeholders to drive prioritization and resolve escalated issues efficiently.
Foster open communication and collaborative problem-solving across teams.
5. Reporting & Documentation
Provide ongoing updates via KPIs dashboards and executive-level summaries.
Maintain organized audit-ready documentation stored in centralized repositories.
10 years of experience leading complex IT projects ideally in Finance or Enterprise Application environments (e.g. PeopleSoft Oracle EPM Cloud).
Demonstrated ability to manage external vendors and application service providers effectively.
Strong leadership and influence across cross-functional teams with competing priorities.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in stakeholder engagement and aligning IT solutions with business needs.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
Ability to operate independently and thrive in ambiguity.
PMP and Agile/Scrum certifications are highly preferred.
