RN - MedSurg/Tele
About Facility:
o 1 Medical Center Blvd Winston-Salem NC 27157
o 885 licensed beds
o Level 1 Trauma Designation
o Teaching Hospital: Yes Academic Medical Center
o Chest Pain Center
o Stroke Center
Unit Information:
o Beds: 24
o Minimum Years of Experience required 2 years MST
o Will you accept a first-time traveler Yes dependent on experience. Must have a strong background in MST
Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
o General Medicine - DM GI Resp Renal Wounds/Dressing Changes chest tubes trachs lab draws required
Patient Ratios:
o RN: 5-6:1
Required Licensure & Certifications:
o BLS ACLS NIHSS (Resource Team requirement)
Skills required:
o Ability to provide direct and indirect patient care strong interpersonal communication skills ability to work collaboratively solid written and oral communication skills ability to tolerate moderate to high stress levels and experience reading telemetry strips
o Chest tubes traches PIV starts drain & tubes PCA pumps
o Gtts management Amiodarone (occasionally) Fentanyl PCA Ketamine PCA Heparin
Support within the Department:
o CNA: Duties Provides basic nursing care to assigned patients and assist RN where needed
o Receptionist/HUC
o Charge nurse
o Phlebotomy
o IV/VAT Team No
o Rapid Response Team
o RT 24/7
o Hospitalist 24/7
o Intensivist 24/7
o Telemetry monitoring/tech Centralized Telemetry
Technology/Equipment:
o EMR: Epic
o IV Pump: Alaris
o Med dispensing: Omnicell
Orientation (facility and unit):
o NEO
o 2 days departmental
