Job Description

Position Purpose:

Veolias Gum Springs facility located in Arkansas (AR)  is set to become a state-of-the-art hazardous waste treatment operation incorporating global best practices and innovative technologies including advanced PFAS treatment methods. This new facility will not only double our workforce to over 200 employees but will also enhance our capacity to treat over 100000 tons of waste per year utilizing advanced flue gas capture strong customer base and combined business activities offer significant opportunities. gas capture techniques. As the Senior Project Director for the VNA Gum Springs project you will provide senior-level strategic management and leadership for large-scale complex construction projects within our CAPEX organization. This critical role is accountable for the end-to-end execution of multi-million dollar Design-Build (DB) construction projects ensuring rigorous compliance with project budgets stringent quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) standards aggressive schedules and critical operational requirements. The Senior Project Director will lead and mentor multi-disciplinary project teams and is ultimately responsible for the profit and loss (P&L) performance of the entire Gum Springs construction portfolio.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

Strategic Project Leadership Execution Contract & Risk Management:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive strategies for the successful completion of the VNA Gum Springs project.
  • Drive end-to-end project execution from planning through closeout maintaining focus on operational requirements and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Ensure project delivery on schedule within budget and to specified technical constraints.
  • Manage complex design and construction execution issues participating in strategic planning project scheduling and mechanical & electrical construction management.
  • Assume full P&L responsibility for the project ensuring optimal financial performance and budget adherence.
  • Lead the negotiation of contracts and claims with major contractors safeguarding organizational interests and project viability.
  • Establish and monitor key project cost and progress Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) weekly providing proactive insights and corrective actions.
  • Build lead and mentor high-performing multi-disciplinary site teams ensuring adequate skills and resources for project success. Empower the team to resolve conflicts and interpret policy with initiative.
  • Provide high-level strategic reporting on project status risks and opportunities to Executive leadership.
  • Anticipate potential problems and proactively solve complex issues through creative thinking and resourceful use of internal/external expertise.

Technical & Engineering Oversight:

  • Oversee the preparation of all project documentation including Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and engineering specifications ensuring policy conformance.
  • Overview and monitor engineering activities during construction providing recommendations for design and/or construction changes to improve operability.
  • Oversee thorough engineering analysis of conceptual and detailed design plans shop drawings specifications and contractor submittals to ensure cost-effective design operation and maintenance.
  • Ensure strict adherence to Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) processes throughout all project phases.
  • Confirm compliance with all applicable codes and operational requirements.
  • Oversee coordinate and assist with start-up planning and activities and support engineering activities for ongoing operations.

Work Environment: 

  • Will be physically on the construction site will need to comply with all Health & Safety regulations on site and as Veolia North America policies.

Qualifications :

Education/Experience/Background:

 

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Over fifteen (15) years of progressive in project management design and construction of industrial facilities. Primary focus on water/wastewater treatment plants preferred but comparable experience in Oil & Gas capital projects will be considered. Must possess strong operational troubleshooting capabilities and complex facility management experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing multi-million dollar project budgets and achieving P&L targets.
  • Proven senior-level strategic management and leadership experience in large-scale complex Design-Build (DB) construction projects.
  • Extensive experience working with integrated teams comprising design professionals contractors and consultants in the delivery of DBO projects.
  • In-depth experience in project scheduling cost analysis contract terms development technical scope development contracting and cash flow analysis.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

 

  • Exceptional leadership skills with a proven ability to build motivate and manage diverse project teams.
  • Strong background in contract negotiation claims management and vendor relations.
  • In-depth knowledge of project management methodologies including cost control scheduling and QA/QC protocols.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills capable of effectively reporting to executive stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of standard practices tools materials occupational hazards and safety precautions in water/wastewater treatment plants.
  • Thorough working knowledge of regulations and permitting processes with basic knowledge of competing and alternative treatment technologies.
  • Ability to develop unique solutions for complex technical problems including the design of new systems or solutions without precedent.
  • Consistently demonstrate leadership ability regularly serving as a technical or functional leader.
  • Thorough understanding of internal and external economic factors (cost margins profit impact of decisions) affecting project areas with a demonstrated ability to profitably complete technically successful DB projects.
  • Demonstrated commitment to compliance with applicable laws the Companys Code of Business Conduct and other Company policies and procedures.
