Danvers High School is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Long Term Substitute to cover a Health Education position from October 8 through November 26 2025.The teaching schedule includes sections of 9th Grade Health 10th Grade Health Academic Intervention and RISE Health/PE serving a diverse student population.The ideal candidate will be a student-centered educator with strong content knowledge and a commitment to promoting student wellness and engagement.Key Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging standards-based instruction in Health and Physical Education including topics such as mental health substance prevention nutrition human development and wellness.Plan and implement meaningful lessons tailored to the needs of 9th and 10th grade students as well as students in Academic Intervention and RISE (a specialized support program).Foster a safe inclusive and supportive classroom environment that promotes respect health literacy and social-emotional learning.Assess student learning through a variety of formative and summative assessments; provide timely and constructive feedback.Collaborate with colleagues support staff and administrators to meet the academic and wellness needs of all students.Maintain accurate records of attendance grades and classroom activities.Communicate regularly and effectively with students families and school staff regarding student progress and classroom expectations.Support school-wide expectations and contribute to a positive school climate and culture.Qualifications:Bachelors degree required; degree in Health Education Physical Education or a related field preferred.MA DESE certification in Health (512) preferred or eligibility to obtain preferred.Previous experience teaching high school Health/PE strongly preferred.Strong communication organization and classroom management skills.Additional Information:The Danvers Public School District is committed to the principle of equal opportunity in education and employment.
