Job Description
Tomlinson Environmental Services Ottawa is currently looking for a Straight Box Truck Driver to join our Industrial Waste Division Operations team. This role is responsible for performing daily job requirements safely and efficiently. It also requires a candidate capable of safely operating a vehicle in challenging weather conditions and varying environments.
Location: 5555 Power Road
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Successfully work in a fast-paced environment under pressure while maintaining composure and a positive outlook.
- Safety oriented with good housekeeping practices controlling hazards safety awareness and a good driving record.
- Operate a vehicle in compliance with all local provincial and federal regulations and company policies.
- Complete daily route and assist in other areas as directed.
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends holidays and being on call.
- Good written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers dispatch and management.
- Perform daily maintenance and cleaning of company vehicles and equipment and report defects immediately.
- Conduct pre-trip/post trip inspections and complete logs.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Exposure to extreme weather conditions.
- Exposure to industrial waste materials.
- Exposure to high traffic conditions while outside of the vehicle.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Ability to operate different types of trucks & systems.
REQUIREMENTS
- Having previous driving experience is an asset.
- Must possess a valid DZ license with a clean abstract.
- Having knowledge in TDG regulation is an asset.
- Having the ability to safely load unload pick and move drums and totes using lifting devices.
- Having the ability to read and understand a map or operate a GPS unit.
- Having the ability to understand waste classes and complete/maintain manifests.
- Candidate must be flexible as he needs to be ready to operate different trucks with short notice.
- Having a great attention to details when filling out paperwork.
