Toowoomba Grammar School (TGS) is seeking a passionate andexperienced English Teacher to join our dynamic team. Thesuccessful candidate will have experience in delivering Englishlessons for students in Years 712 with expertise in theYear 12 General English syllabus. They will have a strongunderstanding of the Australian Curriculum and a proven trackrecord of effectively preparing Year 12 English students for theirexternal assessments.

This is a fixed term contract position to provide cover for astaff member taking Long Service Leave. The role will commence inmid-August and continue through to the end of the year. This roleis available on a full time or part time basis depending on thesuitability and preference of the successful candidate.

About TGS

TGS was founded in 1875. It is an independentnon-denominational day and boarding school for boys with a totalenrolment of 1200 from Preparatory to Year 12. There areapproximately 300 boarders in the School coming predominantly fromthroughout Queensland Northern New South Wales and the NorthernTerritory. The Schools campus covers 20.5 hectares andis located one kilometre from the centre of Toowoomba.

About the Position

TGS Teachers play a pivotal role in designing and deliveringinnovative teaching programs aligned with our learningphilosophies. Your expertise will contribute to cultivating anenvironment that empowers students to become confident independentthinkers. You will collaborate with a supportive academic team andengage with various stakeholders including parents and felloweducators.

Selection Criteria:

You will be able to demonstrate your ability and commitmentto:

  1. Teaching Expertise: Demonstrated proficiency in designing and delivering innovative teaching programs aligned with Queensland and Australian curriculums. A deep understanding of effective pedagogical practices and the ability to tailor teaching methods to diverse learning styles and student needs.
  2. Subject Matter Knowledge: Proven specialist knowledge in the subject discipline encompassing a comprehensive understanding of its concepts theories and practical applications. Ability to convey complex ideas in an accessible manner and to inspire students curiosity and engagement.
  3. Student Engagement and Motivation: Track record of motivating and enthusing students particularly boys in their learning journey. Ability to create a dynamic and inclusive classroom environment that fosters active participation critical thinking and a passion for learning.
  4. Use of Technology in Education: Proficiency in leveraging technology as an integral part of the teaching process to enhance student learning outcomes. Demonstrated ability to integrate digital tools and resources effectively to engage students and promote digital literacy.
  5. Curriculum Development and Adaptation: Experience in collaboratively developing and evaluating curriculum materials adapting to educational trends and integrating innovative teaching methods. Ability to create learning experiences that are relevant challenging and aligned with the schools educational philosophy.
  6. Mentoring and Pastoral Care: Experience or interest in acting as a Mentor within the schools House system providing support and guidance to students in their pastoral care groups. Ability to contribute to pastoral care programs and promote a positive and inclusive school culture.
  7. Contributions to School Community: Demonstrated willingness and enthusiasm to actively participate in the schools co-curricular activities House system and pastoral care initiatives. Proven ability to contribute positively to the broader school community and its programs.
  8. Professional Development and Growth: Proactive commitment to ongoing professional development and a willingness to engage in continuous learning. Demonstrated participation in workshops courses or other activities that contribute to refining teaching practices and staying updated with educational advancements.
  9. Alignment with School Ethos: Deep alignment with the concept of an education designed for boys including the ability to modify curriculum content and delivery to cater to the specific needs and interests of young men. A passion for fostering character responsibility and integrity in students.
