Requirements to Qualify:
A current Certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)* and a valid license to practice as a certified Pharmacy Technician by the California State Board of Pharmacy*.

*To receive credit for your certificate and license it must be current and included with your application or emailed to
within seven (7) calendar days of filing your application.

License:
A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job related essential functions.

Physical Class:
Physical ClassIII - Moderate: Standing or walking most of the time with bending stooping squatting twisting reaching working on irregular surfaces occasional lifting over 25 pounds and frequent lifting of 10-25 pounds.

Desirable Qualifications:
Additional credit will be given for experience on desirable qualifications.
  • Full-time experience in medication inventory monitoring.

Examination Content:

This examination will consist of an evaluation of training experience and desirable qualifications based on application information and supplemental questionnaire at the time of filing weighted 100%.

Applicants must meet the requirements and achieve a passing score of 70% or higher on the examination in order to be placed on the list.

Note: Credit for experience is given based on a 40-hour workweek. Part-time experience is credited on a part-time ratio i.e. working 20 hours per week for two months equals one month of experience. No additional credit is given for overtime.

Eligibility and Vacancy Information:

Candidates who passed the assessment are placed on a list in the order of their score group for a period of twelve (12) months. We will use this list to fill vacancies within the Department of Mental Health as they occur.

No person may compete in this examination more than once every twelve months.

Available Shift:
Appointees may be required to work any shift including evenings nights weekends and holidays.
