Position Description:
External Affairs Intern
Salary: This is an hourly position $12 per addition classcredit is available depending on your schools guidelines.
Location: Chicago IL
Reports To: Chief External Affairs Officer

Start Date: Seeking candidates available fromMarch through June 2018. Start and end dates are negotiable. This position will not exceed 17 weeks ofwork.
Hours: 10-20 hours per week both in office and on site at schools. Specific hours negotiable depending on classschedules.
Position Overview
This internship is an excellentopportunity to experience various aspects of external affairs includingcommunications marketing government relations and fundraising while workingfor a nonprofit organization. The intern will work primarily with the FamilyEngagement team on enrollment outreach which includes producing anddistributing information packets for school enrollment events and identifyinglocal activities such as neighborhood fairs carnivals and other appropriatevenues to promote Acero Schools.
The interns will acquire valuableresume-building experience put into practice the skills learned in class. Atthe completion of this internship the intern can expect to gain experience inhow marketing materials are developed from idea to production; how nonprofituse social media to forward their mission; how potential donors are prospectedcultivated and asked; and how database management can make all effortsmanageable and increase productivity.

Nature of work requires an abilityto operate standard business office ability tocommunicate and exchange information collect compile and prepare workdocuments set-up and maintain work demandsrequire the ability to stand bend reach high and low stoop and walk aroundup to 60% of the addition walking up and down stairsseveral times a be able to lift 15 to 20 pounds for shortperiods of time and push and pull 15 to 20 lbs.
Working Conditions
Majority of work performed in ageneral office requires availability forextended hours plus non-traditional hours required to perform requires participation and attendance atorganization-sponsored events and meetings.
