Software Development Engineer, AWS, EC2 Live Migration

Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) is a fast-growing business that provides cost effective easy-to-use cloud computing resources to businesses of all sizes around the world. At the Amazon Development Center in Dresden Germany we develop and operate Live Migration which enables seamless migration of EC2 instances between physical hosts helping our customers maintain their applications availability and resilience.

We are looking for a highly motivated Software Development Engineer to join our this role you will work with a team of experienced engineers to build maintain and operate the Live Migration service for EC2. You will be responsible for designing implementing and testing new features and enhancements to our service as well as diagnosing and resolving issues that arise in our production environment.

EC2 Live Migration team is a part of AWS Utility Computing (UC) which provides product innovations from foundational services such as Amazons Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWSs services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization youll support the development and management of Compute Database Storage Internet of Things (Iot) Platform and Productivity Apps services in AWS including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.


Key job responsibilities
- Design implement and test new features and enhancements to our Live Migration control plane service in EC2.
- Collaborate with other engineers and stakeholders to define requirements priorities and timelines for feature development and bug fixes.
- Diagnose and resolve issues that arise in our production environment ensuring that our service is always available and performing optimally.
- Participate in code reviews and provide feedback to other engineers to ensure that our codebase is maintainable scalable and efficient.
- Continuously improve our control plane service by identifying opportunities for automation optimization and performance tuning.
- This job requires On-Call activities.

- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Computer Engineering or a related field or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience in software development with a focus on distributed systems at scale networking or infrastructure software.
- Experience operating and supporting production cloud services including on-call responsibilities.
- Strong programming skills in at least one high-level programming language such as Java Kotlin C or others.
- Familiarity with Linux operating systems and command-line tools.

- Experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS Azure or Google Cloud Platform.
- Proficient in at least one scripting language such as Python Ruby or similar.
