Job Description

The objective of the Student Programs at Nexteer Automotive is to selectstudents with high potential and provide them with real world work experiences. Work assignments expose students to many of the companys products processes and procedures. Assignments are designed to assimilateacquired classroom education with actual hands-on work experience in a technical addition Nexteer Automotive gains theopportunity to find new talent to enhance productivity while providing students exposure to full-time career opportunities.

This is a Student Co-op position located in Auburn Hills MI. This position supports the ECU -Application testing & Lab activities.

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Co-op to join our ECU Application Testing team. This role offers hands-on experience in Embedded systems validation and exposure to simulation-based testing. It offers exposure to full validation lifecycle of automotive embedded systems by working alongside experienced engineers to ensure robust integration of hardware and software components in automotive ECUs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Learn and navigate the virtual validation toolchain including SIL (Software-in-the-Loop) and HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) environments.
  • Get exposure to tools such as MATLAB/Simulink dSPACE Vector CANoe for simulation and automation.
  • Assist in developing updating test cases and executing test plans for hardware/software integration at component and system levels based on functional specifications.
  • Conduct bench-level SIL and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing using Vector Mathworks dSPACE tool chain.
  • Document test results identify anomalies/defects and support root cause analysis with senior engineers.
  • Maintain traceability of test cases to system requirements using RTC tool chain
  • Contribute to automated test frameworks using CAPL Python C# or scripting tools.
  • Assist in maintaining version control and configuration management of simulation assets.
  • Explore simulation-based fault injection and robustness testing techniques.
  • Participate in software build and release planning and cross-functional meetings.

Requirements:

  • Candidate must be attending a 2-year college or 4-year university local to Auburn Hills
  • Candidate must be pursuing a Bachelors in Electrical or Computer Engineering
  • Candidate must be able to work 20-32 hours during Fall and Winter semesters
    • Up to 40 in the summer
  • Must have cumulative 2.7 GPA on 4.0 scale
  • Must be a full-time student (12 or more credits) during Fall and Winter semesters
  • Candidate must have an interest in embedded systems microcontrollers and automotive communication protocols (CAN CAN FD LIN FlexRay).
  • Candidate must have a strong interest in coding with exposure to scripting languages such as Python MATLAB or C#.
  • Candidate must have a growing knowledge and application of Electrical Engineering principles Computer Engineering principles
  • Candidate must have strong mathematical and analytic ability
  • Candidate must be proficient with Microsoft Products (Office 365 Word Excel Powerpoint Project Power BI Access SQL)
  • Candidate must have excellent Communication Documentation Skills and attention to detail
  • Candidate must have right to work in the US and not require current or future sponsorship
