About The Position
Under the general guidance of the Technical Coordinator the Technical Officer will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of laboratories and workspaces while delivering expert support for teaching and research activities across STEM areas.
The successful incumbent will provide specialist advice to users ensuring that designated spaces operate efficiently and safely in accordance with legislative requirements and RMIT policies and procedures. They may also be required to coordinate operations across multiple laboratory or workspace areas.
The role requires experience and knowledge in the routine operation maintenance commissioning and training of various equipment and instruments related to Analytical Chemistry and Process Chemistry. This includes but is not limited to CHNS analysers TOC analysers spectrophotometers GCMS and equipment requiring mechanical capabilities.
To be successful in this position youll have:

knowledge and experience working within a laboratory/workspace setting of Chemistry and Process Chemistry.
laboratory operations and maintenance experience preferably in a teaching or research environment.
4.Demonstrated understanding of current OH&S legislation with knowledge of other field or industry regulations or standards related to the field within the scope of the service area.
initiative and problem-solving skills highly organised and the ability to work autonomously and in a team.
communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and with a diverse range of people from various backgrounds.
Qualifications: Degree or higher qualifications in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry or a related discipline and relevant experience
