Were looking for Attorneys to join our DCFS team. The selected candidate(s) will operate with considerable independence and must exercise discretion and judgement in evaluating complex cases.
Minimum Qualifications
- Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice law.

Job Duties:
- Prepare and try civil suits in court.
- Reviews and approves legal documents and responds to issues needing legal opinion and or clarification concerning various administrative concerns within the department.
- Gives advice to counsel in all matters of law requiring specialized knowledge and experience.
- Provides legal analysis/interpretations of state and federal statues rules and regulations to ensure agency compliance and assists staff with implementation thereof.
- Prepares staff and represents DCFS in mediations involving the department as requested.
- Serves as liaison on assigned legal matters between DCFS other governmental agencies the general public community partners stakeholders and the judiciary (local state andfederal) on a regular basis.
- May perform other duties as needed for the smooth operation of the Department.
Position-Specific Details:Appointment Type: Probational Promotional or Job Appointment
Career Progression: This vacancy may be filled as an Attorney 1-3 depending on the experience of the selected applicant.
Works Schedule: Typically work hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday Friday. Flexible work schedules are available after meeting certain criteria and is dependent upon the position you are applying for. Some positions require working shifts.
Compensation:
Special Entrance Rates have been established for the following Attorney job titles:
Attorney1 $27.08 hourly (AS-617)
Attorney2 $28.98 hourly (AS-618)Attorney3 $32.02hourly (AS-620)The referenced positions are also eligible for premium pay of up to $2.00 per hour for hours work based on specific criteria.
