This posting is for an Engineering Technician II in the Forsyth County Maintenance office. This position will be responsible for technical support to the Forsyth County Maintenance Department. This position will assist in the inspection of commercial driveway permits right-of-way utility encroachments erosion control traffic control devices and roadway construction. This position may also be required to inspect contractor performance including guardrail repairs long arm mowing and roadside mowing. This position performs routine inspection on a variety of projects to ensure general compliance with plans and specifications. This position submits required records reports and diaries within specified time frames. Employee will be subject to both inside and outside extreme environmental conditions in addition to hazards at highway construction sites including heavy equipment and highway traffic. Applicant must obtain and keep current QMS Asphalt & Concrete Testing Certifications Roadway Density Certifications and Erosion Control Certificates Levels II & III. Position is exposed to extreme conditions such as ice snow difficult terrain dust extreme heat and cold high volumes of traffic and heavy construction equipment.
Additional Expectations:
Physical activities include but are not limited to standing walking talking and hearing.
The selected applicant will be expected to legally operate a motor vehicle.
Safety-toed shoes required.

Associate degree in an applicable area of Engineering Technology Survey Technology or a related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution and two (2) years of progressive technician level experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
