Global Supply Management (GSM) is responsible for helping AMEX maximize the purchasing power of over $9B of third party spend. We provide strategic consultation to the business and provide end to end procurement services. We maximize the purchasing power of American Express to drive the best value from our supplier base which then frees up investment capacity. GSM together with our business partners manages the supplier strategy for the Company identifying and on-boarding new suppliers realizing significant cost saves and revenue generation relating to working with GCP and GMS to increase billings and merchant coverage and ensuring an optimal user experience for AMEX employees and suppliers.
How will you make an impact in this role
As a Sourcing and Contract Manager within the Source to Contract team you will be responsible for the development and execution of the most effective strategy for agreements of varying complexity and in alignment with the GSM Category Management team and other SMEs and stakeholders for delivering maximum value to the business through the sourcing and contracting process.
The role is expected to discover understand and apply best in class procurement process insights and experience in the pursuit of driving supply opportunities at competitive cost and high quality. The role is responsible for the development and execution of sourcing strategies and events to support the needs of our business partners and for the negotiation and execution of appropriate contract terms - working in partnership across peer groups including General Counsel (Legal) Third Party Lifecycle Management (Third Party Risk) Tax Compliance and Insurance in multiple markets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing centralized support for end to end sourcing and contracting process for a variety of categories.
- Develop and maintain business trusted advisor relationships to implement Category Strategies (e.g. influence requirements shape demand advise business how to capture the most value from supplier relations); with a customer first mindset and strategy.
- Lead the development and execution of the sourcing process (RFI RFP RFQ) in alignment with the Category Strategy.
- Driving value and competitive advantage to our business partners through effective supplier negotiations.
- Reviewing and identifying supplier risk working with Third Party Risk Management teams and business stakeholders to support strong supplier governance.
- Managing the end to end contract process in line with required policies standards and processes
- Drafting sophisticated contractual provisions leveraging GSMs template library based on strategy discussions business needs and expectations.
- Review and manage the redlining of contracts of varying complexity using playbooks defined negotiation bandwidths and in partnership with key stakeholders inc General Counsel (Legal).
- Develop and own end-to-end negotiation plans; execute negotiation process driving commercial and legal terms and conditions and value opportunities.
- Mange the approval of contracts in line with applicable policies standards and policies
- People Leadership for Contract Associate(s).
Minimum Qualifications:
- Significant experience working in a Supplier Management Procurement or Contract Management role.
- Demonstrated experience managing large and complex procurement contracts.
- Passion for using analytics to develop insights and recommendations solve business challenges improve the customer experience and drive bottom line results.
- Experience leading and participating on cross-functional and/or global teams.
- Outstanding relationship management skills able to become a true business partner and a trusted advisor.
- Executive presence and ability to work with colleagues and suppliers at all levels.
