Job Description

We are looking for another dedicated person to join us. We have an immediate opening for a full time Procurement Specialist at our headquarters in Santa Maria CA. If you have a passion for excellence and would like to join one of Santa Barbara Countys top employers then wed like to talk to you.

The Procurement Specialist plays a key role in the development implementation and execution of supplier management strategies to ensure quality cost-effectiveness and compliance with internal and regulatory requirements. This role requires a professional who can work cross functionally with teams such as quality assurance engineering R&D and operations to manage supplier performance sourcing strategies and risk mitigation initiatives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develops and issues Requests for Quotation (RFQs) using specifications statements of work and terms and conditions for the procurement of materials equipment or services.
  • Prepares bid packages evaluates supplier proposals negotiates purchase order terms and manages purchase order execution to ensure timely and compliant delivery.
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders to define sourcing needs and identify qualified suppliers based on quality delivery cost and service levels.
  • Maintains supplier performance metrics and scorecards; manages supplier corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) and leads issue resolution efforts.
  • Facilitates supplier audits and ensures supplier compliance with regulatory contractual and quality standards.
  • Monitors and analyzes industry trends supplier risk and demand data to inform procurement strategy.
  • Works with internal teams and suppliers to identify and implement cost-saving opportunities and process improvements.
  • Drives supplier continuous improvement initiatives using tools such as Lean Six Sigma or root cause analysis.
  • Maintains supplier files quality records and audit documentation in accordance with company policy. Coordinates and leads cross-functional meetings to review supplier performance audit outcomes and risk assessments.
  • Travels up to 10% of the time.

Qualifications include proven ability to manage suppliers and procurement projects independently strong negotiation analytical and communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and supplier management systems and able to travel for supplier visits or audits. Experience in FDA regulated industries working knowledge of supplier quality standards familiarity with CAPA processes and quality systems documentation experience with supplier audits and risk evaluations are preferred.

Bachelors degree (B.S./B.A.) from four-year college or university and/or equivalent years experience in Supply Chain Management Business Engineering or a related field is required.
