Job Description

About The Department of Administrative Services:

The Ohio Department of Administrative Services (DAS) is the engine of state government providing innovative solutions and supporting the efficient operation of state agencies boards and commissions.

DAS program areas serve out Ohio government customers who in turn directly serve the interests of Ohioans. We help procure goods and services deliver information technology and mail recruit and train personnel promote equal access to the state workforce lease and manage office space process payroll print publications and perform a variety of other services.

State and Federal Surplus Services:

The State and Federal Surplus Services program facilitates the recycling of excess supplies within government and attaining maximum return on investment. Property declared as surplus is made available to other state agencies political subdivisions and other eligible recipients. Remaining property is sold at public auctions. State agencies and members of the Federal Surplus program also may acquire excess federal property.

The State of Ohio is a drug-free workplace which prohibits the use of marijuana (recreational marijuana/non-medical cannabis). Please note this position may be subject to additional restrictions pursuant to the State of Ohio Drug-Free Workplace Policy (HR-39) and as outlined in the posting.

Minimum Qualifications:

9 mos. exp. as Inventory Control Specialist 1 64551.

OR 18 mos. trg. or 18 mos. inventory control AND 3 courses or 9 mos. electronic data processing related to inventory control AND 1 course or 3 mos. public relations.

OR equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.

Knowledge of:

  • Inventory control
  • Safety practices
  • Public relations
  • Agency policies & procedures and state/federal regulations related to inventory control salvage and surplus disposal *
  • Bookkeeping

Skill in:

  • Operation of personal computer and associated hardware/software (e.g. Microsoft Access Word Outlook Picture Viewer computerized cash register system *)
  • Operation of calculator
  • Operation of mechanical equipment (e.g. trucks forklifts hand jacks)

Ability to:

  • Deal with problems involving several variables in familiar contexts
  • Prepare meaningful concise and accurate reports
  • Maintain accurate records
  • Gather collate and classify information about data people or things
  • Comprehend and record figures accurately
  • Calculate fractions decimals and percentages
  • Lift push or pull up to 75 lbs
  • Obtain and maintain a valid drivers license
