Pay Range: $41600 $62400 annually DOE
Job Summary
We are currently hiring a Carbon Steel Welder / Fabricator to support our tank manufacturing operations in Paso Robles CA. This position is responsible for welding and assembling carbon steel components according to engineered drawings and fabrication standards. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in welding fabrication techniques blueprint reading and safe shop practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Read and interpret fabrication drawings blueprints and work orders.
- Perform welding in flat vertical horizontal and overhead positions using MIG and other applicable welding processes.
- Fit tack and weld carbon steel components for tanks assemblies and structural parts.
- Use shop equipment including overhead cranes forklifts torches shears punches and grinders.
- Prepare materials for welding by cleaning measuring cutting and positioning parts accurately.
- Perform layout work using appropriate tools and techniques to meet fabrication tolerances.
- Grind chip and dress welds to meet structural and visual standards.
- Inspect work to ensure compliance with internal quality standards and rework as necessary.
- Maintain tools equipment and a clean work environment in compliance with company safety policies.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
- Minimum of 2 years welding experience working with carbon steel in an industrial or construction setting.
- Valid Drivers License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with structural tank or pipe welding.
- Forklift and overhead crane experience.
- Knowledge of fabrication techniques and shop safety practices.
Skills and Competencies
- Proficient in MIG welding and other common welding processes for carbon steel.
- Ability to read and understand fabrication drawings and specifications.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a production environment.
- Commitment to safety quality and teamwork.
Work Environment
This position operates in a heavy-duty fabrication shop setting with the following conditions:
- Exposure to loud noise welding fumes grinding debris and moving machinery.
- Required use of PPE including:
- Safety glasses
- Hearing protection
- Welding helmet and gloves
- Steel toe boots (mandatory)
- Work areas may be hot dusty or physically demanding based on production schedules.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand walk bend stoop and reach for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs regularly and perform physical labor as needed.
- Ability to work in confined spaces or elevated platforms when required.
