Job Description

Position Summary
Career Readiness Learning Objectives: Teamwork - The ABST (Alternative Break Service Trips) intern will build and maintain collaborative relationships with the CSC intern team and professional staff as well as ABST leaders and community partners. Equity & Inclusion - The ABST intern will work towards recruiting student participants from different demographic backgrounds for our trips. The Center for Social Concerns ( CSC ) equips students and campus colleagues to engage with Gannons communities both local and global through purposeful service exploration and action for the common good. The Alternative Break Service Trip ( ABST ) Intern will primarily provide support for the CSCs signature ABST program through the areas listed below. The ABST Intern responsibilities may include: 1. Assist with the development and delivery of ABST program components including program marketing and recruitment research trip destinations and themes and update trip resources create and edit materials to support the ABST student participant experience and assist with pre-trip preparations 2. Assist with the implementation of ABST Student Leader training including preparing training materials 3. Assist with ABST fundraising efforts to support the Student Participant experience 4. Assist with ABST social media and technology needs including assisting the CSC Social Media and Marketing Intern with the creation of social media posts events and communications about the ABST program on the CSCs social media/web platforms including Instagram Facebook EngageU and Gannons websites 5. Assist in managing program supplies program library and promotional items (keep track of current inventory and assist with choosing and ordering new items) 6. Provide support for other CSC programs as needed such as GIVE Day Day of Caring community engagement programs and advocacy and awareness initiatives 7. Assist with representing the CSC at campus events 8. Assist the CSC Student Intern team and professional staff with other office projects as assigned including supporting needs in other areas within Mission Immersion and the Student Experience division

Physical Demands
Ability to lift and carry objects and boxes of items to locations on and off campus is helpful but not required.

Required Qualifications
Candidate must have: Interest in the mission and programs of the CSC including interest in learning more about community service culture and global issues. Openness to learning and to personal and professional growth including development of oral and written communication skills. Openness to learning and using technology platforms such as Canva Microsoft Office Applications (we use Teams Word Excel PowerPoint Forms and others regularly) and social media and other web platforms the CSC utilizes. Good organizational and time management skills in order to manage and complete multiple projects. Ability to work on a team. Good academic and conduct standing at the university.

Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to those who have participated in an ABST and/or have served as an ABST student leader. Successful candidate must be available for work during weekday business hours. Some evening and weekend hours may be requested i.e. to represent the CSC at an admissions event or at a CSC event on campus.
