Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and under-served communities around the world. We are looking for a Software Development Engineer focused on Systems Performance to help us scale this this service globally.
Key job responsibilities - Develop and deploy state-of-the-art antenna calibration algorithms - and then efficiently optimize their performance
- Develop system-level simulations (and supporting scaled infrastructure on AWS) to enable high-velocity decision making on wide-ranging technical challenges
- Work with applied scientists/engineers on our team to define test and implement machine-learned anomaly detection tools predictive maintenance workflows and automated remediation applications need to support our Monitoring and Remediation System (MARS).
- Own the full software development lifecycle - including design testing deployment mission integration and operational support - for applications you build.

A day in the life In this role as a Software Development Engineer you will design implement optimize and operate systems critical to the uptime and performance of Kuiper ground terminals. Your contributions will have a direct impact on customers around the world.
About the team The Kuiper Ground Software & Analytics team is responsible for:
- Design development deployment and support of a tier-1 Monitoring and Remediation System (MARS) needed to maintain high availability of hundreds of ground terminals deployed around the world. - Ground systems integration/test (I&T) automation - Ground terminal configuration provisioning and acceptance automation - Systems analyses - Algorithm development (pointing/tracking/calibration/monitoring) - Software interface definition for supplier-provided hardware and development of software test automation
- 5 years of non-internship professional software development experience - 5 years of programming with at least one software programming language experience - 5 years of leading design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience - Experience as a mentor tech lead or leading an engineering team
- Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent - 5 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience - Experience with statistical estimation supervised learning methodologies and anomaly detection
