Job Details
The Pathways Coordinator is responsible for the oversight and implementation of Brighton High Schools Career Pathway programs goals and initiatives. Brighton High School is in the process of developing a Health Care Innovation Pathway in collaboration with industry and post-secondary partners. The Pathways Coordinator is primarily responsible for establishing this program including developing industry partnerships for student internships and other learning experiences. Brighton is also building a Business and Entrepreneurship pathway which the Pathways Coordinator would also oversee. The Pathways Coordinator is responsible for establishing a vision that seeks to close gaps between traditionally underrepresented students and their peers in higher education and the workforce by promoting equity inclusiveness and college and career readiness opportunities for all Brighton Pathway students.
The Pathways Coordinator is responsible for cultivating and fostering positive and working relationships between higher education partners industry partners and other intermediaries so as to build rigorous and developmentally appropriate programs and activities that will result in successful and positive program experiences for students and post-secondary success. Working collaboratively with school staff college staff and coordinating with industry partners the Pathways Coordinator will provide the leadership necessary for creating monitoring and facilitating an effective and sustainable career pathways program at Brighton High School. This will include a vision for expanding Pathway aligned Advanced Placement and Dual Enrollment courses for Brighton students.
Working together with college high school staff and outside partners the Pathways Coordinator seeks to maintain and develop collaborations that serve to better prepare students for college and careers while fostering mutual learning among the faculty staff and students at the partnering institutions. The Pathways Coordinator will collect and track all Pathways students work-based learning experiences and evaluate the quality of work-based learning experiences for partners and students. The Pathways Coordinator is instrumental in facilitating students progress and success by ensuring that appropriate collaborative mechanisms and structures are in place and continuing to build college and career readiness for Brighton High School students.
Specific Functions:
The Pathways Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Career Pathways Programs and includes these specific job functions.
- Collaborate with industry and community partners to create a sequence of career exploration and learning opportunities that include but are not limited to job shadows internships field trips workshops and incorporates district level platforms such as Naviance.
- Facilitate and coordinate on-site workplace learning experiences at industry facilities including but not limited to field trips job shadow opportunities and internships.
- Create a pool of diverse employer speakers in relevant industries to the pathway curriculum and identified student interests
- Support pathway teams with outreach scheduling and implementation of appropriate work-based learning and dual enrollment experiences that are integrated into existing systems (MyCAP Naviance etc) and aligned to pathway student learning outcomes.
- Assist students in creating a mid-year college and career digital portfolio that includes work samples a resume and cover letter and capstone projects.
- Work with the pathways team to create a structured internship program for students
- Assist with support and monitoring for Dual Enrollment students
- Provide workshops on work readiness including refining resumes interviewing employer expectations and professional work-place etiquette.
- Serve as liaison to businesses after placement to troubleshoot issues
- Maintain and keep up-to-date databases to provide reports on work-based learning.
- Assess program performance by collecting analyzing and reporting student performance and employment data and provide recommendations to the Head of School
- Plan and organize related recruitment outreach and informational sessions for prospective students and families.
- Design and implement orientation programs for current and future students and parents outlining expectations procedures policies and criteria for the students successful completion of the technical and college level coursework.
- Collaborate with Family Liaison to design multiple opportunities for family engagement and voice and to create a community environment where students are acknowledged celebrated and feel a part of something special and unique.
- Create and maintain student files which include updated contact information registration materials assessment results and signed copies of student contracts. Perform administrative tasks such as collecting organizing and disseminating statistical data.
- Identify students who may need modified pathways experiences and develop appropriate placements based on their individualized learning needs
- Responsible for ensuring students in pathways are coded for SIMS and other state or local reporting.
- Pathways Coordinator assess student and program performance by collecting analyzing and reporting student academic performance and employment data and make recommendations to improve student achievement in order to fulfill the programs mission
- Coordinate with industry and post-secondary partners to develop and implement programs that support career and college exploration experience and immersion.
- Meet bi-weekly with Brighton Head of School and other administrators to discuss student enrollment recruitment strategies data/tracking and deliverables.
- Manage Pathways budget in collaboration with school principal and assist with grant writing and reporting as needed.
- Participate and attend workshops and training sessions with partners DESE and other stakeholders.
- Attend meetings and events and serve on committees as needed.
- The Pathways Coordinator must maintain a working knowledge of Early College Dual Enrollment and Career Pathway initiatives across the state and nationally.
- Meet regularly with pathways teachers and administrators to understand program needs and develop student supports
- Plan and facilitate weekly Pathways team meetings and bi-annual retreats and support and provide feedback on an ongoing basis.
- Meet regularly with Pathways Work Based Learning team and MyCAP team to outline and assess goals vision and deliverables and address program needs and supports.
- Assist with the communication and support of alumni as needed.

Other responsibilities include:
- Develop Dual-Enrollment course taking opportunities
- Plan implement and coordinate a comprehensive career pathways program with multiple post-secondary partners
- Synchronize the planning for dual enrollment capstone and internship placements so that high school calendars are developed to fit into community partner schedules and work out details to ensure that the lines of communication are open and that operations run smoothly.
- Develop and remain responsible for an effective tracking system
- Collaborate with BHS faculty regarding curriculum alignment
Qualifications-Required:
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in secondary or post-secondary education or the Health Careers industry

Qualification-Preferred:
- Masters in Education or related field
- 5 years or more as an urban student support provider and minimum of 3 years as a student support manager

NOTE:School-based managerial employees will work 223 days between July 1st and June 30th each year. The 223 day work-year will include the 180 days in which school is in session and the additional days will be determined by the employee and the principal or headmaster of the school.
