The School of Education at Notre Dame of Maryland University is seeking a dedicated and experienced Academic Advisor for Doctoral Programs. This pivotal role is responsible for supporting and guiding doctoral and CASE program students throughout their academic journey from program entry through dissertation completion. Reporting to the Senior Director of Advising and Operations this position blends student support academic program management and strategic coordination to ensure an exceptional doctoral student experience.
The Academic Advisor for Doctoral Programs plays a vital role in supporting doctoral students particularly those completing their dissertations by providing academic advising and maintaining up-to-date program plans. This individual coordinates doctoral course scheduling collaborates with the Associate Dean on faculty assignments and works closely with the Chair of the PhD Committee to set agendas and guide committee priorities. The advisor monitors and tracks the progress of dissertation committees oversees the appointment and payment of chairs and readers and manages the doctoral program budget including cohort agreements. Additionally the advisor directs the administration of comprehensive exams ensures process integrity and communicates results to students. Other responsibilities include maintaining accurate student records and program documentation attending recruitment and outreach events engaging alumni and current students in networking and professional development opportunities participating in School of Education committees and collaborating with leadership to set strategic goals for the program.
