The Los Angeles County Office of Education is looking for attentive customer focused individuals to join the Employee Assistance Service for Education (EASE) team.

A Senior Division Secretary performs a variety of secretarial duties including keyboarding formatting editing documents filing answering telephones operating office equipment and organizing coordinating and facilitating division activities and communications in support of a Director II Director III Administrator or Cabinet-level administrator with responsibility for a major division or function; provide work direction guidance and training to subordinate clerical and secretarial personnel as assigned.


IMPORTANT NOTE: This opportunity is only available for those who have taken and passed the Clerical/Secretarial Series Exam in the last two years or are in a related permanent position at LACOE and thus exempt from the Clerical/Secretarial Series Exam. This recruitment is still open to both internal and external applicants and invitations to take the Clerical/Secretarial Series Exam will be included as a part of this recruitment.

The Well Qualified Candidate Will Possess the Following

Required Education and ExperienceEducation:Graduation from high school or equivalent.

Experience:Three years of secretarial experience including one year in a lead capacity or one year as a LACOE Division Secretary or two years as a LACOE Secretary/School Administrative Secretary.

Additional Requirements:Some positions may require the ability to take dictation at 90 words per minute and transcribe accurately for which a 2.75% stipend is added to the base salary. A valid California drivers license and the availability of private transportation or the ability to obtain transportation between job sites may be required.

Hybrid remote schedules may be available.

Selection ProcessCandidates who meet the minimum requirements above will be invited to participate in an examination that may consist of a Written Exam Performance Exam and a Structured Interview.

Candidates who pass all exam parts are ranked according to overall exam score and placed on an eligibility (hiring) list. Vacant positions are filled from the top three ranks.
