Job Description

1. Perform preventive maintenance emergency repairs and final repairs on all chillers and related equipment.
2. Perform scheduled preventative maintenance of HVAC equipment.
3. Diagnose troubleshoot disassemble repair maintain and service a variety of HVAC equipment including heavy HVAC equipment.
4. Inspect mechanical rooms for operating logs equipment maintenance and operations.
5. Troubleshoot and maintain pneumatic and electrical control systems related to HVAC equipment.
6. Inspect and repair all types of air-conditioning air handlers and boilers and associated equipment.
7. Inspect various air moving equipment and HVAC systems that remove heat/cool from the buildings; and/or conditions air for any malfunction; repair malfunction and make other adjustments.
8. Add refrigerants to the air conditioning equipment monitor air movement equipment and make adjustments on the equipment for efficient operations; monitor boiler treatment and make adjustments as required.
9. Repair and install pumps and electric motors to various types of HVAC systems and equipment and perform swimming pool system maintenance.
10. Inspect and repair air handlers and multi-zone heating expansion cooling units fiberglass piping window units and other HVAC equipment.
11. Recommend emergency purchase order requests and maintain work order recordkeeping from initiation to completion.
12. Work and assist other maintenance employees in responding to emergencies and resolve work related issues.
13. Perform work to insure its completion within allotted time limits.
14. Operate hand and power tools and other equipment using good safety practices.
15. Maintain inventory of tools equipment and vehicles; inform supervisor of any known problems immediately and provide documentation during inspection and/or inventory of tools equipment and vehicle as required.
16. Follow District safety guidelines using good safety practices for operating hand and power tools and equipment as need for job completion. Wear safety equipment as assigned at all times.
17. Maintain accurate records for labor materials work order completion project orders manufactures technical data sheets material safety data sheets and other Maintenance records.
18. Communicate effectively with principals department heads district staff and all other auxiliary services personnel in a professional manner in all phases necessary to locate correct repair and complete each job or project.
19. Employee will be required to work overtime as needed to complete jobs including after hour emergencies.
20. Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

Watson Candidate Assistant is here to answer questions about working at Dallas ISD.

1. Accredited High School Diploma or USA equivalency.
2. Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) Universal Certification required.
3. HVAC trade school certification preferred.
4. Class A or B HVAC certification is preferred.
5. Six (6) years of directly related experience.
6. Demonstrated knowledge of preventive maintenance inspection and minor repair of HVAC equipment and energy management systems.
7. Demonstrated knowledge of the technical crafts utilized within and outside the HVAC function.
8. Ability to work in confined spaces; frequently required to use ladder climb or balance at a height up to 30 feet.
9. Demonstrated ability to perform responsibilities under general supervision.
10. Demonstrated organizational communication and interpersonal skills required to achieve the goals of the position.
11. Demonstrated skills in accurate record keeping and computer data base management including work orders and material procurement.
12. Maintain a valid Texas Drivers License and driving record that meets District standards.
13. Must pass Dallas ISD random drug test.
14. Bilingual is a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing walking pushing and pulling; moderate lifting and carrying; some stooping bending and kneeling; limited exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Travel throughout the district is integral to this job.
