About this Job

This is a part time position located at theKeep Louisiana Beautiful office in Mandeville LA.

Keep Louisiana Beautiful brings people together to build and sustain vibrant clean communities. Through our programs and a statewide network of Affiliates we provide the right tools and resources to prevent litter reduce waste increase recycling and protect the natural resources of our communities. Our mission is to promote personal corporate and community responsibility for a clean and beautiful Louisiana.

Our four key initiatives include:

  • Improving policy and infrastructure to make it easier for people to do the right thing through our grants programs advocacy and data collection
  • Strengthening environmental law enforcement through enforcement legislation support ordinance templates and a litter court handbook
  • Influencing positive behavior through education with our K-5 litter education curriculum teacher trainings public awareness campaigns and motorist education programs
  • Increasing community capacity through our litter cleanups and recycling collections grant programs trainings and annual state conference
Were looking for a Public Information Officer 2 WAE to coordinate the communication efforts of Keep Louisiana Beautiful to both internal and external audiences on multi-medium platforms such as social media website electronic newsletters print and digital. Heightening awareness of the litter problem and litter prevention education are critical first steps to changing peoples behaviors resulting in a clean and beautiful Louisiana.

An ideal candidate should possess the following competencies:
Communicating Effectively: The ability to relay information correctly and appropriately to connect people and ideas.
Displaying Expertise: The ability to exhibit specialized skills or knowledge gained from experience or training.
Thinking Critically: The ability to objectively question analyze interpret and evaluate information to form a conclusion.

Minimum Qualifications

Four years of experience in public relations journalism marketing content creation social media management or graphic design; OR

Six years of full-time experience in any field plus one year of experience in public relations journalism marketing content creation social media management or graphic design; OR

A bachelors degree plus one year of experience in public relations journalism marketing content creation social media management or graphic design; OR

An advanced degree in public relations marketing communications journalism or English.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

The Public Information Officer is responsible for creating and scheduling compelling content that promotes the mission and programs of Keep Louisiana Beautiful (KLB). The incumbent will ensure messaging reflects KLBs values and voice across all communications platforms. Responsibilities include but are not limited to creating social media and electronic communication calendars assisting with social strategy development creating and editing content and engaging with KLBs online audiences.

Communications:

Performs other duties as assigned.

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type: This position will be filled as a part-time Classified WAE limited to 1245 working hours in a 12 month period. **Starting Hourly Pay varies depending on experience.**
