Job Description

Reports to: Director of InclusionDescription: Supervised by the Director of Inclusion The Inclusive Ed Behavior Specialistprovides in situ training to paraprofessionals related to building capacity in the application ofbehavioral best practices and student specific interventions (as appropriate). Inclusive EdBehavior Specialists train paraprofessionals use data to support their training efforts related tobehavior support strategies and ongoing use of evidence based practices. Inclusive Ed behaviorspecialists work to train support staff in the carry over of applied approaches into the generaleducation Inclusive Ed Behavior Specialist will develop appropriate relationships with all staff andstudents. They will build positive and productive relationships with students and leverage thoserelationships to fully engage students in their learning environment by reinforcing thedemonstration of replacement behaviors in a variety of Inclusive Ed Behavior Specialist will: coach and train paraprofessionals in use ofmulti-tiered interventions for all students; use data to inform decision making; and use data toevaluate the effectiveness of Job Responsibilities Model and provide ongoing in-situ coaching of relevant techniques (based on classroomteam/student need) Adhere to department developed training practices (use of Behavior Skills Trainingmodel) Complete ongoing documentation relative to training provided (e.g. training notes aftereach training contact) Provide the Director of Inclusion Education/Inclusive Education Team with updates onstaff trainings provided Provide post-training check in meetings at predetermined intervals Participate in weekly/bi-weekly Inclusive Education Team meetings Lead staff training related to evidenced-based best practices in the areas of InclusiveEducation and environmental/structure supports Understand school-wide student expectations and actively support student developmentand growth Consistently and enthusiastically promote the expectation of high achievement for allstudents and reinforce school- wide rules and expectations Collaborate with faculty and staff to promote a positive learning climate for students Reinforce the implementation Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) Requires daily travel to one or more district school locations based on assignmentAdditional Responsibilities May Include: Willingness to identify student preferences and deliver reinforcement based on identifiedmotivators Participation in initial and on-going training related to Practical Functional AssessmentSkills Based Treatment and Universal Protocols. Assist in Practical Functional Assessment procedures and implement Skills BasedTreatment procedures with identified students. Utilize data collection software to track student progress through Skills Based Treatment Complete session notes and other documentation specific to Skills Based Treatmentsessions Participate in weekly team meetings regarding current Skills Based Treatment cases Assist with training on the use of student specific Universal Protocols with school-basedparaprofessionals teachers and other relevant staffStatement of duty/responsibility: Other duties as - REQUIRED: Associates Degree and/or experience in related fields; Bachelors degree preferred(Human services Special education Applied Behavior Analysis psychology etc.) Experience working with individuals with autism and/or intellectual disabilities Experience in and comfortability with managing challenging behavior (aggressionself-injury property destruction) Current Safety Care Specialist Certification or willingness to be trained within 30 days ofonboarding Knowledge of Special Education law policy and related practices Ability and willingness to travel to schools across the district and the Central Office asschedule and duties dictate Demonstrated commitment to equity Demonstrated ability to apply a racial equity lens to decision making Willingness to design facilitate and coordinate professional learning experiences Strong rapport establishment skills Strong communication skills (verbal written presentation) Working knowledge of applied behavior analysis/ principles of ABA/PBIS Self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with districtlevel and school-based teams Passion for education and a commitment to equity specifically for improving learningand life outcomes for all students using evidence based practicesExempt Position: $50-$55K 185 school daysThe Lawrence Public Schools in accordance with its nondiscrimination policies does notdiscriminate in its programs facilities employment or educational opportunities on the basis ofrace color age criminal record (inquiries only) disability homelessness sex/gender genderidentity religion national origin ancestry sexual orientation genetics or military status and doesnot tolerate any form of retaliation or bias-based intimidation threat or harassment that demeansindividuals dignity or interferes with their ability to learn or work.
