What Youll Be Doing:
As a Saw New Wood Operator your primary responsibilities will include:
Operating a specific or multiple types of saws to cut or trim new wood to specified dimensions.
Performing cuts with precision by adjusting the cutting method saw blades as well as the speed and tension needed to provide consistent quality for all pallet components.
Inspecting and measuring new lumber to verify the accuracy of the cuts.
Delivering on or exceeding daily production requirements.
Maintaining equipment integrity by performing general upkeep to ensure proper operation.
Identifying and understanding types and grades of new lumber.
Operating and maintaining multiple forms of hand and power tools saws and equipment.
Maintaining a clean workspace reducing accidents and ensuring compliance.
Escalating technical and process issues to leadership.
Fostering exceptional and collaborative partnerships with facility staff.
Performing other duties as assigned to support overall operations.
What Were Looking For:
Previous experience operating industrial saws or similar woodworking machinery is required.
Proven ability to read and interpret measurements accurately and work with precision.
Strong understanding of woodworking safety practices and procedures.
High attention to detail for quality control and defect identification.
Ability to meet or exceed daily production goals in a fast-paced environment.
Basic mechanical aptitude for routine equipment upkeep and maintenance.
Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
High School Diploma or GED preferred; any relevant vocational training or certification is a plus.
A strong commitment to safety and quality standards.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand walk bend stoop and lift for extended periods.
Capable of lifting and moving lumber and materials regularly throughout the shift.
Requires excellent manual dexterity hand-eye coordination and tactile sensitivity for precise cutting and material handling.
Ability to hear and understand verbal instructions machinery sounds and safety alarms in a noisy environment.
Excellent vision (including close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus) for reading measurements identifying defects and operating machinery safely.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job the employee will primarily work in a manufacturing or production environment. This may include exposure to wood dust sawdust moderate to high noise levels and varying temperatures. Steel-toed boots and other personal protective equipment (PPE) will be required.
