Job Description

Primary Purpose

The Student Recruiter/Enrollment Specialist is responsible for representing and presenting Southwesterns programs and opportunities to prospective students parents teachers and counselors regionally and nationally. They are responsible for implementing student recruitment efforts for assigned prospective student pools attracting a diverse student body and working with the admissions team to meet the colleges enrollment goals. The Student Recruiter/Enrollment Specialist is expected to attend local state and national college fairs and assist in the planning and execution of both on and off campus student recruitment events. Facilitate enrollment by reaching out to prospective students at regular intervals as well as during strategic recruitment and critical decision-making timelines and deadlines; actively engage potential future students across multiple platforms and channels and engage students through various means including email texts videos and social media posts.

**This position requires travel including driving and air travel throughout the academic year to perform the essential functions of the position. Evening and weekend work may be required on an occasional basis to meet the recruitment and enrollment needs of the college.**

Description of Essential Functions

College Student Recruiting and Outreach (70% of Time)

  1. Represent the quality and scope of an education at Southwestern to high school students prospective post-traditional students prospective students teachers college/career centers parents and the general public.

  2. Present Southwesterns programs admissions requirements and related policies housing options and requirements tuition and basic financial aid information.

  3. Collaboratively participate in plan organize and implement on-campus and off-campus recruitment events. Participate in hosting prospective student visits campus information sessions campus tours and other traditional and innovative recruitment activities.

  4. Be present in the admissions office and serve as a member of the Admissions team to recruit and enroll qualified and motivated students to Southwesterns academic programs and degrees; contribute to each phase of the admission funnel and support the traditional and non-traditional recruitment efforts occasional weekend/evening work required and participation in marketing efforts.

  5. Maintain thorough knowledge of college programs processes and services in order to effectively guide prospective students through the enrollment process. Contact and follow up with all inquiries received from web sources college fairs school visits telephone/email social media etc. Follow up with personal contacts and track actions taken and enrollment status for each prospect.

  6. Represent Southwestern through a diverse array of recruitment programs and outreach activities; advise prospective students on the various courses certificate and Associates degree programs offerings discuss admissions requirements and application processes and conduct transcript evaluations as appropriate.

  7. Compile data from recruitment visits campus visits and a range of different communication channels including the College website telephone email live chat marketing materials and social media; participate in review and analysis of data from the results of recruitment efforts and make recommendations on revisions.

  8. Works with the Student Services team Communications and Marketing team and program faculty to develop recruitment strategies tactics and processes in support of or in addition to the college recruitment plan.

  9. Collaborate with the Communications and Marketing team to develop electronic and print communications for groups of identified prospective students follow up with personal contacts and track actions taken and enrollment status for each prospect. Suggest enhancements to college website.

  10. Participate in College-wide Recruitment Work Group to develop recruitment plan and implements assigned activities. Assist with organizing and facilitating student recruitment events for special populations of students including adult learners.

  11. Establish and maintain relationships with community groups agencies and businesses that offer opportunities for referrals/recruitment and/or work with other campus representatives to facilitate referrals/recruitment.

  12. Assist with student ambassador program

Admissions/Enrollment Counseling (30% of Time)

  1. Assist prospective students in navigating the colleges admissions and advising process. This includes assisting these prospective students in identifying resources on the College campus that would include student support services academic advising financial aid counseling and Veterans benefits assistance.

  2. Advise and retain students by helping with walk-in and summer registration periods and orientation programs.

  3. Provide campus tours facilitate student/parent question and answer sessions and assist families with the admissions process to include first quarter advisement.

  4. Assist international applicants in completing required paperwork and meeting applicable regulations.

  5. Assist with the planning of Welcome week.

  6. May provide referral to academic advising and general program advising to incoming students as necessary.

Performs Other Duties and Special Projects as Required/Assigned

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree in Education Marketing Communications Journalism or related fields.
OR
Associates degree in Education Marketing Communications or related fieldsand two (2) years experience working in a student services capacity at an institute of higher education.

Plus the following:
Experience in admissions recruitment related functions academic advising student services or counseling in an academic environment.
Experience in marketing public speaking educational recruitment.
Experience in program coordination and cross-functional team collaboration.

  • Ability to write and communicate at a professional level utilizing a high level of computer skills sufficient to use software such as word processing spreadsheets and databases to produce correspondence documents and reports as required by the position.
  • Exhibit a high level of computer literacy sufficient to use software such as email word processing spreadsheets and databases to produce correspondence documents and reports.
  • Ability to use Internet Microsoft Outlook Word and Excel as needed.
  • Ability to learn and function in the Colleges information management system.
  • Knowledge of college entrance procedures and programs of study. Knowledge of the world of work assessment testing and the transfer process.
  • Ability to follow established college and department procedures and work independently to accomplish those procedures.
  • Ability to implement general directives and Board policies in the assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Ability to explain established policies and procedures using judgment and diplomacy.
  • Ability to plan organize and carry out activities independently.

Masters degree.

Previous higher education student recruitment experience.
