Job Description

Overview

This role provides legal and administrative support to the Chief Legal Officer (CLO) attorneys of Education Media Foundation and its subsidiaries and affiliates. Specific areas of focus include governance employment non-profit FCC intellectual property and transactional law (contracts and leases). Clear and timely communication high level of initiative and close partnership with the Chief Legal Officer attorneys and outside counsel are essential to the success in this role. Effectiveness is measured by the ability to successful apply legal understanding and organization to projects and the management of relationships both internally and externally. Understanding and daily application of ministry values mission and biblical principles is key to success in this position.

Heres some of what you will be doing:

  • Research gather data and compile information on various matters as assigned based on ministrys interests and legal compliance and ethical principles.
  • Analyze and communicate regarding legal issues. Resolve routine legal matters under the supervision and guidance of attorneys.
  • Under the direction of an attorney participate in the drafting and review of a variety of documents such as entertainment and media agreements purchase agreements promissory notes escrow agreements security agreements bank documents and other leases.
  • Organize index and track matter files administrative files meeting files and other files.
  • Act as the main point of contact for CLOs clients and staff. Proactively respond to inquiries and concerns; clearly and positively communicate solutions with exceptional follow through. Effectively and efficiently route and answer questions not requiring CLOs attention.
  • Serve as the primary internal resource for the CLO including but not limited to development of correspondences of both privileged confidential and non-confidential matters email and voicemail communication and other general administrative functions as addition helping to book meetings coordinate schedules and handle a variety of meeting logistics as well as book travel for CLO and personnel as requested.

Heres some experience we require:

  • 2 years of experience working in a medium to large-size law firm General Counsels office corporate legal office or equivalent setting.
  • Juris Doctorate or Paralegal Certification preferred
  • Strong computer skills; advance knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook).
  • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Regulatory non-profit and Board of Director experience preferred but not mandatory.
  • Must possess sound judgement regarding appropriate risk tolerance while effectively communicating risk to key stakeholders to drive expedient thoroughly informed decisions.
  • Strong attention to detail with proven organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication negotiation and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and value others; communicate effectively; and collaborate with others.
  • High-level of integrity; demonstrated ability to work independently; establishing and meeting performance/ministry goals.
  • A collaborative and flexible style with strong service mentality. Need to be seen as a team player.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the social sector with a passion for our mission and values.
