The State Long-Term Care Ombudsmans primary duty is to advocate for the rights andwell-being of residents in long-termcare facilities. This involves investigating complaints providing information and support and working to resolve issues related to residents care safety and quality of life.
They will also play a role in educating the public residents and staff about residents rights and long-term care issues. The State Long-Term Care Ombudsman plays a critical role in systemic advocacy through participation in work groups task forces and other committees representing the interests of residents before governmental agencies and other entities. The Ombudsman as necessary seeks administrative legal orother remedies to protect residents rights. This individual also has programmatic oversight regarding service delivery for the entire state. They oversee the activities of all representatives of the Program who serve at the state regional and local levels.
This individual will carry out these duties and requirements as outlined in the Older Americans Act.

Management Preferences
Masters degree in a discipline relative to the program from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of related experience; or Bachelor s degree in a discipline relative to the program area from an appropriately accredited institution and six years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
