Job Title: Specialist Anaesthetist
Location: Auckland New Zealand
Salary: $185380 NZD - $267980 NZD per annum
Relocation Support: $15000 NZD
Immigration Support: Full immigration support provided
The Specialist Anaesthetist is responsible for providing expert clinical anaesthetic consultancy and professional support to acute and elective services. This role will focus on delivering safe and efficient anaesthesia services promoting best practices and ensuring optimal patient care. The Specialist Anaesthetist will also engage in clinical leadership teaching and service development within the healthcare system.
Clinical Duties:
Provide anaesthesia for elective and acute surgeries including obstetric anaesthesia pain management and perioperative care.
Supervise and manage patients in the Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) and during the perioperative period.
Perform preoperative assessments and post-operative reviews of patients in the ward.
Participate in acute pain management and complex pain management services.
Ensure compliance with protocols standards and clinical guidelines in anaesthesia practice.
Non-Clinical Duties:
Engage in continuing professional development (CPD) and maintain certification requirements.
Attend departmental education morbidity and mortality meetings and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
Contribute to clinical audits research and the development of clinical pathways and guidelines.
Provide teaching and supervision for medical students anaesthesia trainees and other clinical staff.
Leadership & Service Development:
Support the recruitment and orientation of clinical staff.
Assist in developing clinical audit processes and defining performance goals.
Contribute to service development ensuring the highest standards of anaesthesia care.
After Hours Call Back & Required Attendance:
Participate in the acute out-of-hours call-back roster as required by the department.
Minimum:
Post Graduate qualification and experience suitable for vocational registration as a Specialist Anaesthetist with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ).
Registration with MCNZ as a Specialist Anaesthetist.
Preferred:
Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA).
Previous experience in anaesthesia particularly in acute complex and elective surgery settings.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams.
High level of initiative motivation and professionalism.
Ability to lead mentor and support junior medical staff.
Strong organisational and time-management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
Adhere to workplace health and safety practices ensuring a safe environment for staff and patients.
Report and investigate incidents and ensure corrective actions are taken.
