Job Description

Reentry & Recovery Specialist

INFORMATION
Department: Reentry & Recovery

Type of Position: Non-Exempt
Location of Work: Juneau AK
Salary Grade(s): 8/9 ($27.51 DOE)

PURPOSE
The Reentry & Recovery (R&R) Specialist has overall responsibility for supporting the R&R departments functioning combined with participant services and administrative duties supporting housing operations and participant needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsible for reading understanding and explaining departmental policies and procedures.
Responsible for composing a volunteer list of committed partners to support community give-back opportunities for participants.
Responsible for working with culture bearers and organizations to book and prepare monthly calendars of activities for participants.
Will contribute to program needs and be responsible for running at minimum (1) group per month for participants.
Responsible for administering program feedback survey to all departing participants and reporting results during weekly staff meetings for continued quality improvement.
Will track participant milestones for recognition.
Will assist with departing and new resident room clean-up and preparation requirements.
Acts as assistance/back-up for Peer Support and front desk.
Participate in ongoing education and training opportunities.
Will attend the Juneau Reentry Coalition (JREC) monthly meeting.
Other duties as assigned.

NECESSARY SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of local service agencies and community resources
Mastery of basic office procedures and practices
Excellent customer service skills
Strong interpersonal communication skills
Ability to prioritize and good time management
Ability to practice tact courtesy and direction
Experience working with Alaska Native/American Indian (AN/AI) participants and understand the cultural needs
General knowledge and current on approaches to recovery and reentry into the community for persons who have been incarcerated
Must be able to work with individuals of various cultures customs and backgrounds
Must follow National HIPPA and Confidentiality guidelines
Must be willing to learn electronic health record system for documentation
Proficient in Microsoft suite including outlook word excel and Teams.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education experience skills)
High School Diploma/GED
1 year experience working with people who have experienced incarceration reentry and/or recovery
CPR/First Aid/NARCAN trained or willingness to be certified soon after date of hire
Must have a valid drivers license

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (education experience skills)
Peer Support Certification

UNUSUAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OR RESTRICTIONS
The majority of work is performed in a professional office setting and is generally sedentary requiring routine walking standing bending and carrying items weighing less than 40 lbs. Travel on small aircraft or ferry may be required.
