Job Description
We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer who thrives in both R&D and production environments. This is your chance to be part of a company that values innovation collaboration and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Design specify and test automated packaging systems including flexible film handling heat sealing conveyors product handling and weighing systems.
- Create and manage detailed 3D CAD models drawings and BOMs using SolidWorks and INFOR CRM.
- Perform engineering calculations (load stress mass balance etc.) to validate design decisions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production quality and sales to ensure design accuracy and manufacturability.
- Conduct on-floor quality checks and provide technical support to resolve performance or configuration issues.
- Select mechanical components and materials and ensure designs meet industry standards for food packaging and washdown environments.
- Automate and streamline design tasks using Excel macros and custom reporting tools.
- Lead or support special projects aligned with department and company goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience in capital equipment design and development.
- 510 years of hands-on mechanical design experience preferably in food packaging or industrial automation.
- Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks (or similar CAD systems such as Inventor AutoCAD).
- Experience with BOM creation and ERP/CRM systems (e.g. INFOR).
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication processes component sourcing and system integration.
- Proficiency in Excel (including macro creation) MS Word PowerPoint and project documentation.
- Excellent problem-solving communication and organizational skills.
- Valid drivers license and willingness to travel up to 10% including international travel.
