Role Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and commercially driven Bunker Trader to manage and grow our network of Korean bunker fuel suppliers. The ideal candidate will play a key role in maintaining strong supplier relationships optimizing trading strategies and supporting sales across a diverse client base.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage relationships with Korean bunker fuel suppliers.
- Conduct market research to identify and pursue new business opportunities.
- Promote the companys offerings to third-party customers across various markets.
- Handle bunker fuel sales and negotiate deals tailored to customer requirements.
- Strategically plan ideal bunkering ports aligned with vessel voyage schedules.
- Communicate daily with existing clients to ensure continued service satisfaction.
- Maintain and enhance the performance of the Bunker Trading Platform.
- Monitor and manage trading risk in accordance with internal risk tolerance policies (e.g. mVar Flat Price limits Stop Loss Paper Tenor).
- Implement profit optimization strategies such as Fixed Forward Pricing (FFP) Capped Supply Contracts (CSC) Discounted Floating Pricing (DFP) and Physical Collar Contracts (PCC).
- Prepare Daily Exposure Reports (DER) to monitor trading exposures.
Requirements
- 12 years of experience in bunker trading or a related role.
- Strong interest in the maritime or shipping industry.
- Commercial acumen with a proactive and entrepreneurial approach.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Willingness to travel to meet suppliers (typically twice a year).
- Strong relationship-building skills across cultures and business levels.
- Native Korean or fluent Korean speaker with deep cultural understanding is strongly preferred due to the nature of supplier engagement.
