Job Description
The Private Trading Office (PTO) is a multi-billion-dollar bespoke brokerage business of RBC Dominion Securities Inc. offering advisory and customized trading solutions to sophisticated and qualified Ultra High Net Worth (UHNW) global clients Family Offices and other Enterprise Strategic Clients (ESC) of RBC. Strategically aligned with the ESC group while operating on the RBC Dominion Securities platform as a regulated entity PTO delivers a core Capital Markets offering with blended Wealth Management capabilities specially designed to best meet the complex needs of our client base. PTOs integrated client-centered approach deepens client relationships across the enterprise.
The Senior Trader and Investment Strategist is at the core of a professional highly specialized multi-asset trading desk and service offering for sophisticated Enterprise Strategic Family Offices and qualified UHNW global clients. Your role will focus on delivering exemplary service to our clientele consistent with their stated goals and objectives.
Manage the daily global trading needs for PTO clients across all asset classes including equities options fixed income foreign exchange mutual funds futures precious metals money market and structured products.
Manage the PTO trade book and inventory related operational aspects of the desk as well as mitigating associated trading risk.
Work collaboratively with the PTO Account Management Team to address client operational requests.
Providing expertise and guidance on multi-asset class trading strategies and solutions leveraging the capabilities of RBC.
Collaborate with external financial institutions (broker-dealers fund companies) as it relates to clients trading needs or to explore new opportunities and innovative solutions.
Monitor macroeconomic government and financial market conditions across multiple jurisdictions to provide valued commentary to PTO clients.
Cultivate strategic partnerships across RBC to drive business growth implement customized solutions or explore opportunities to expand/deepen existing client relationships.
Collaborate within the PTO team and other functional support areas of RBC to support client initiatives.
Engage with clients regarding KYC/AML and other onboarding related issues.
What do you need to succeed
Minimum 5 years of relevant financial markets experience.
Trading experience in equities fixed income currencies options or exchange traded derivatives.
Strong relationship management/sales skills.
Multi-disciplinary experience within a Capital Markets environment an asset.
Ability to engage and cultivate partnerships within and outside the organization to drive results.
Canadian Securities Course (CSC) / Conducts & Practices Course (CPH) / Trader Training (TT) an asset.
Undergraduate degree in Finance Economics Mathematics or Engineering.
Successful candidate will be expected to complete their Investment Advisor registration once in the role.
Proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated initiative and ability to think outside the box.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
Experience with trading platforms (Fidessa Bloomberg CQG).
Advanced Microsoft Office skills particularly in Excel.
Nice to have:
Working toward CIM / CFA beneficial.
French an asset.
Option licensing (DFOL) / Futures licensing (FLC).
Programming skills.
French an asset.
