We are seeking to appoint a full time proactive self-directed and motivated trained professional to join Mount Annan Christian College as our College Nurse.
Forming part of the Operations team the College Nurse is responsible for providing medical expertise and assessment of medical incidents to the College community with a focus on delivering first aid treatment assisting at College events and ensuring accurate and timely documentation of all medical care provided.
The College Nurse also plays a key role in the prevention of medical incidents by contributing to the development and implementation of individual medical plans for students as required proactively suggesting and implementing risk mitigation procedures to minimise medical risks across all areas of the College and participating as a representative of the WHS committee.
This role requires flexibility to work between 7.30am and 4.30pm in alignment with College hours and co-curricular commitments.
This role will see you responsible for:
- Administering appropriate treatment for a range of medical situations from minor conditions such as cuts abrasions contusions and soft tissue injuries to emergency cases including fractures severe bleeding trauma and asthma attacks
- Responding to medical incidents by assessing the situation contacting emergency services when necessary and notifying the appropriate parent or guardian
- Overseeing the safe administration and management of student medication in accordance with College policies and medical guidelines
- Managing the Colleges first aid equipment including stock take and replenishment of first aid kits epi-pens medication and glucose supplements (poppers jellybeans)
- Assisting in the development and implementation of individual healthcare action plans for students with specific medical conditions including but not limited to anaphylaxis diabetes epilepsy and severe allergies
- Communicating effectively with staff parents students and external healthcare providers regarding student medical needs and concerns
- Monitoring and reporting cases of communicable diseases in accordance with relevant guidelines and College procedures
- Accurately documenting all treatments provided to students in the sick bay using the Colleges Student Management System ensuring compliance with record keeping and regulatory requirements
- Providing and monitoring staff First Aid and CPR training requirements and coordinating relevant training sessions as needed
- Checking all student medical forms prior to College camps and excursions ensuring appropriate medication and first aid supplies are available for the specific student needs

- Effective written verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Time management skills with the ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects with conflicting deadlines
- Be flexible and adapt quickly in a dynamic environment
- Experience in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience using Sentral (desirable)
- Bachelor or Diploma in Nursing
- Experience working as a Registered Nurse
- Valid First Aid Certificate
