Overview

As a Director of Data Engineering youll help drive Concora Credits Mission to enable customers to Do More with Credit every single day.

We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of Data Engineering to lead the design development and scaling of our enterprise data platform. This individual will be responsible for building and managing a high-performing engineering team setting the technical vision for our data architecture and enabling robust data infrastructure that powers analytics machine learning and AI across the company.

This position is located at our Beaverton OR office and has a hybrid schedule. Were onsite Monday through Wednesday where you will lead a team of data engineers working in the office and across the country.

Responsibilities

As our Director of Data Engineering you will:

Leadership & Strategy:

  • Define and drive the vision strategy and roadmap for the companys data platform
  • Collaborate with product analytics data science and business teams to understand data needs and ensure implementation of scalable reliable data services

Team Management:

  • Lead mentor and scale a team of data engineers architects and data platform specialists
  • Foster a high-performance culture with a focus on innovation quality and continuous improvement

Data Infrastructure and Platform Engineering:

  • Own the data infrastructure (data lake data warehouse ETL/ELT pipelines orchestration tools observability)
  • Design and implement scalable reliable and secure data pipelines and platforms (e.g. data lakes data warehouses real-time data streaming)
  • Oversee the integration of structured and unstructured data from multiple sources ensuring data quality lineage and governance
  • Ensure high availability performance and cost-efficiency of data systems

Compliance & Security:

  • Work with security and compliance teams to define policies on access control and data privacy and implement controls for PCI

Innovation & Optimization:

  • Stay informed about emerging technologies in data engineering and apply them where applicable
  • Continuously evaluate and improve platform scalability performance and developer experience

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • 10 years of experience in data engineering with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or management role
  • Extensive experience in data leadership roles including responsibilities for team composition performance technology strategy execution and lifecycle management
  • Expertise in development and delivery including modern data integrations and cloud-data platforms where quality scalability and 24x7x365 availability are key
  • Solid collaboration skills a focus on building strong relationships and a desire to foster an environment of mutual support and success where delivery is an enterprise goal
  • Experience mentoring and supporting teams to develop new muscles evolve their ways of thinking and adopt new standards in quality and development
  • Deep understanding of the modern skills processes tools and methodologies required to rapidly develop deliver and iterate high-quality secure software and services
  • Deep expertise in modern data architecture (e.g. data lakes lakehouses warehouses)
  • Proven experience with technologies like Spark Airflow Kafka Databricks and cloud platforms (Azure AWS or GCP). Azure Databricks experience is strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of data modeling streaming & batch data pipelines and orchestration
  • Strong project management and cross-functional communication skills
  • Expertise in rapid delivery and automation through CI/CD pipelines and a team focus on measurable security performance and quality
  • Budget vendor and technology lifecycle management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a highly regulated or data-intensive industry (e.g. fintech SaaS)
  • Knowledge of machine learning platforms and MLOps
