TITLE: Cascade Bicycle Club (CBC) Cycling Program Assistant

LOCATION:Elementary Schools

REPORTS TO:Principal/Specialist/Instructor(s)

DEPARTMENT:Performing and Fine Arts

6 Hours Per Day (times to be determined) Regular Days

5Hours Per Day (times to be determined)Early Release Days

190 Days Per Year (180 Student Days/ 10 Holidays)

This position will remain open until a qualified applicant is selected. The earliest date a recommendation for hire may be submitted is after 07/25/25.

This position is expected to begin August 26 2025

Salary Placement: New employees will start at the minimum hourly rate in the classification salary range. However employees who have verified prior years of service of similar occupational experience may receive experience credit towards salary step placement.

SUMMARY STATEMENT:

Under the supervision of the program instructor(s) and building principal the CBC Cycling Program Assistant is responsible to assist in the activities of students in the CBC Cycling Program in small and medium sized groups as well as assist with problem solving.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Assist the program instructor(s) in supervising and working with students in the CBC Cycling Program as follows:

  1. Communicate effectively in person or on the phone with students staff families and the general public including ongoing communication with all program partners and constituents.
  2. Assist in establishing and maintaining a positive learning environment and serve as a positive role model for our students.
  3. Assist in collaborating with the Cascade Bicycle Club In-School Bicycle Education Program staff across program goals and objectives.
  4. Assist in evaluating and utilizing best practices in technology and other resource management tools to improve programmatic practices.
  5. Create manage and monitor the delivery and pick-up schedule of the bicycle unit for the district and participating schools. This includes collaborating with the school district and Cascade Bicycle staff.
  6. Oversee contract deliverables and alignment of contract outcomes.
  7. Track and report program outcomes (e.g. number of schools students etc.) and budgets.
  8. Procure equipment as necessary.
  9. Assist in providing group instruction to students under the supervision of the instructor(s) and provide direct program support to instructor(s) to implement the program as needed.
  10. Ensure program quality control which may include but is not limited to: material and equipment inventory management and responding to material requests from teachers.
  11. Assist in program data collection methods to support data driven decision making and program growth.
  12. Gather feedback and information from instructors students and families on current program curriculum and assist with synthesizing/reviewing that feedback for proper grant reporting.
  13. Implement behavioral management strategies using the emphasis and techniques that have been outlined by the teacher.
  14. Assist in organizing and preparing a variety of instructional materials for the program.
  15. Regular attendance to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position to achieve program requirements.

  1. Perform other related duties as assigned.
  2. Participate in staff development opportunities appropriate to the position as they become available.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT NECESSARY:

Computer/laptop telephone copy machines all common tools used in bicycle maintenance and all other tools and equipment necessary to perform the essential functions as listed above.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Experience teaching bicycling or other healthy activities to youth.
  2. Experience working with diverse multicultural education and cross-cultural community building.
  3. Bicycle maintenance skills preferred.
  4. Minimum of one to three years of progressively responsible experience in program facilitation which demonstrates the ability to excel in a high demand time sensitive environment with outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to manage situations.
  5. Experiences in youth development and enrichment (including intellectual emotional and social growth).
  6. Ability to communicate effectively and in a professional manner with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  7. Ability to schedule coordinate and maintain reports for the Cycling Program.
  8. Ability to keep accurate records and data concerning program functions and performance.
  9. Ability to lift 50 pounds in the form of moving bicycles to/from storage or on/off trucks or trailers.
  10. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced work environment.
  11. Demonstrated ability to operate a computer and proficiency with Windows environment Microsoft Office and Google applications.
  12. Demonstrated organizational detail-oriented and accountability skills.
  13. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and work collaboratively in a dynamic work environment.
  14. Demonstrated ability to program activities perform needs assessments and evaluate programs.
  15. Demonstrated ability to work with and supervise school youth (specifically between ages 8 and 14).
  16. Demonstrated ability to comprehend and communicate the Districts goals objectives and policies.
  17. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  18. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with others as part of a team.
  19. Willingness to work outdoors occasionally during all seasons.
