Position Title: AOI Inspector
Department: Quality
Location: Santa Ana CA
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Full- Time
Job Summary:
The AOI Inspector is responsible for operating automated optical inspection equipment to identify and document defects in printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) and electronic components. This role plays a vital part in the quality control process by ensuring products meet the required specifications before moving to the next stage of production.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate and monitor AOI machines to inspect PCBA/CCA assemblies for soldering defects component placement accuracy and other quality issues.
Review and analyze AOI findings to determine true defects versus false calls.
Perform manual visual inspections using magnification tools or microscopes when necessary.
Document inspection results and defects accurately in quality tracking systems.
Collaborate with production and engineering teams to identify and resolve recurring issues.
Ensure AOI equipment is properly calibrated and maintained.
Follow company policies quality and safety procedures and report any non-conformances.
Participate in continuous improvement efforts related to inspection processes.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as standard operating procedures instructions and safety rules in English to the degree necessary to perform the job
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training in electronics or quality preferred.
12 years of experience in PCBA/CCA inspection or SMT production environment preferred.
Familiarity with AOI systems such as CyberOptics Mirtec Koh Young or similar is a plus.
Knowledge of IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 preferred
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a workstation.
Manual dexterity to handle small components and operate inspection equipment.
Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally.
