Job Description

Job Summary:

The Sr. HR Generalist (Sr. HRG) manages and administers core HR functions with primary responsibility for overseeing leaves of absence workers compensation and employee onboarding and offboarding processes and will provide HR support across various other HR functions including company benefits employee relations performance management training and development and policy administration. This role ensures compliance with applicable federal state and local employment laws as well as internal policies while providing exceptional support to employees and managers throughout the employee lifecycle.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage the full-cycle administration of all leaves of absence (FMLA CFRA ADA personal leave workers comp military leave etc.) including employee eligibility review documentation communication and return-to-work coordination.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for employees and managers regarding leave policies processes and accommodations including communication with managers and ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Ensure timely submission of required notices and documentation and maintain accurate leave records including tracking leave usage and availability intermittent leave tracking status updates in HRIS system and relevant documentation.
  • Partner with third-party leave administrators and insurance providers as needed.
  • Administer the workers compensation program including reporting claims coordinating with insurance carriers managing return-to-work or light-duty assignments tracking claims and conducting annual audits and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA reporting requirements and maintain workplace injury logs including workplace violence issues.
  • Act as liaison between injured employees managers insurance carriers and medical providers.
  • Facilitate workplace safety initiatives conduct regular safety inspections and training and assist with incident investigations.
  • Oversee and coordinate new hire onboarding including payroll input forms welcome letters background checks new hire orientation assigning badge access and completion of required documents.
  • Ensure smooth offboarding process including exit interviews final pay coordination benefits separation and system deactivations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve onboarding and offboarding processes for consistent and engaging employee experience.
  • Assist with employee relations matters investigations conflict resolution employee complaints and disputes providing recommendations for resolution.
  • Provide guidance to employees and managers on HR policies procedures and programs.
  • Maintain accurate HR records and ensure data integrity within HRIS systems.
  • Support other HR functions including compliance audits mandatory reporting performance management process and projects as assigned.
  • Prepare payroll input forms to record employee changes including new hires promotions salary changes transfers and terminations.
  • Prepare and distribute HR-related communications and documents.
  • Stay informed about changes in leave laws workers comp benefits state and federal employment laws and regulations and update policies and procedures for proper compliance.
  • Coordinate with third party insurance broker to recommend and administer employee benefits programs including health insurance wellness programs and other employee perks.
  • Lead open enrollment processes including communication planning materials development and employee education sessions.
  • Coordinate with payroll to establish insurance carrier file feeds and ensure accurate and timely processing of benefits-related deductions changes communications contributions and monthly carrier invoice reconciliation.
  • Develop and distribute communications and resources for employees and managers to promote understanding and appreciation of benefits offerings.
  • Address escalated benefits issues and discrepancies working with employees and vendors to resolve problems promptly and effectively.
  • Act as primary backup to assist Talent Acquisition Specialist with recruiting efforts. Corporate Recruiter (i.e. recruiting on-boarding

Education:

Bachelors degree in Human Resources Business Administration or a related field.

Required Experience & Competencies:

5 years of progressive HR experience with strong experience in leave of absence and workers compensation administration.

3 years of experience in benefits administration.

  • Thorough understanding of employment laws and regulations (FMLA ADA CFRA ACA HIPAA workers compensation etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail organization and follow-through.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • 5 years experience in HRIS systems (ADP Workforce Now) Microsoft Office Suite and related tools.
  • Prior experience supporting a Manufacturing site or sites
  • HR certification (PHR SHRM-CP) preferred but not required.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data identify trends and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex information to diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Exceptional critical thinking skills and a customer-centric approach to addressing employee needs and concerns.
