Job Description

General Purpose

The Youth Soccer Referee works in cooperation with the site coordinator carrying out specific program activities primarily refereeing soccer games for grades K-5. Must be available on Sunday afternoons from 12-5pm from August 24 October 12.

Union Affiliation: Non-Union
Pay Grade:$19.15 - $19.65 Hourly
Remote Tier 1: Zero (0) days remote/week

Essential Job Functions

  • Follow all departmental rules and regulations.
  • Officiate games to maintain standards of play and to ensure that game rules are observed.
  • Inspect sporting equipment and/or examine participants in order to ensure compliance with safety regulations
  • Confer with other referees coaches players and staff in order to provide information and discuss any issues or concerns.
  • Fair and courteous treatment of all participants coaches and spectators.
  • Communicate with participants volunteers referees and other staff in a professional manner.

Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements

  • Ability to actively support City diversity equity and cultural competency efforts within stated job responsibilities and work effectively across diverse cultures and constituencies.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity equity and inclusion as evidenced by ongoing trainings and professional development.
  • At least one year of related work experience preferred.
  • Must be at least 15 years old.
  • Possess full knowledge of soccer rules and regulations.
  • Have an eye for detail and possess strong verbal communication decision-making and leadership skills.
  • Must be able to effectively enforce rules.
  • Ability to work weekends as required.
  • Maintain an appropriate and professional demeanor at all times.
  • Follow all departmental rules and regulations.
  • Ability to understand and comply with City standards safety rules and personnel policies.
